This is a Sabertrio Vahlken [Etsy AFFILIATE LINK] and it’s in the stunt saber configuration (no sound) with a Royal Blue blade. I got the two-toned silver and black variant of Vahlken, which contrasts metallic silver portions of the hilt with anodized black segments.
One of my favorite features of the Vahlken is the emitter area, which is dotted with 16 gorgeous horizontal window slits. Maybe it’s just because my saber has a blue blade, but the Vahlken windows remind me a lot of the warp drive from Star Trek (heck, the saber name ‘Vahlken’ even sounds like something out of Star Trek!).
Another distinctive feature of the hilt is the octagonal shape. The hilts boasts two prominent octagonal elements: one in the emitter area and the other near the pommel. The grip area boast a series of extruded rings, making the hilt easier to handle. Like with other Sabertrio lightsabers, the AV is protected by some nearby raised metal, which helps prevent the saber from accidentally activating.
Moving down the hilt, the Vahlken features a silver Covertec wheel near the pommel (Covertec wheels come standard with all Sabertrio lightsabers). The two-toned ‘door knob’ pommel is reminiscent of a Revan or prequel Obi-Wan Kenobi-style pommel. The pommel is vented and Modular Hilt System (MHS) compatible, meaning the hilt is compatible with various Ultrasabers MHS compatible pommels or The Custom Saber Shop MHS V1 pommels.
Sabertrio incorporates several protective features in the Valhken and their other lightsabers. Sabertrio uses a plastic chassis inside the hilt to secure the battery pack, guards the AV switch with nearby raised metal, and secures the in-hilt LED with a retention screw.
There’s something a little indescribable about receiving a Sabertrio lightsaber hilt. Right out of the box, the saber looks and feels like a luxurious, high quality and well made piece. It feels like you’re getting a high end lightsaber for a low to mid-range price and you pretty much are.
