Rieve Lightsaber in Star Wars Canon
The Rieve lightsaber is comprised of a metal hilt that’s mostly silver in color with black accents and a red grip section in the middle. A series of short black claws encircle the emitter, angling in toward the blade. Two long claws or fins, which are also black, extend out of the base of the hilt, echoing the aesthetic of the emitter claws.
A dark side warrior, Rieve fights in competitive arena combat sometime between 5 ABY and 34 ABY. The combat venue, called The Arena, is situated on the rocky planet Vespaara in the Outer Rim Territories. Rieve employs an aggressive and acrobatic lightsaber combat style. She uses the Force to incorporate saber throws, telekinetic throwing and retrieving of a lightsaber, into her fighting.
Rieve’s facial tattoo pattern indicates her affiliation with the Sith Eternal, a secret Sith cult that follows and preserves the dark side religion during and after the fall of the Galactic Empire.
Behind the Scenes
The Rieve lightsaber first appears in Star Wars Canon in Star Wars: Hunters (2022), a free-to-play competitive arena combat game for mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch game console. “Rieve” is an archaic word meaning to rob or thieve.
