What is Brylark wood? | Lightsaber Terminology

Brylark wood is a natural, strong-as-metal material in Star Wars Canon. Wood from the Brylark tree is the only known type of wood strong enough to be incorporated into the design of a lightsaber. Wooden lightsabers are very rare in Star Wars Canon (most lightsabers are made out of metal).

Bylark Wood Lightsabers in Real Life

Several lightsaber companies have sold Brylark wood inspired lightsabers and accessories. Savi’s Workshop, an official build your own lightsaber experience at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Disney World, features several Brylark wood piece options for individuals who choose to build an Elemental Nature themed lightsaber.

Custom saber company Kyberlight sells a Brylark custom sleeve accessory for their lightsabers (the sleeve is made of metal, but features a Brylark inspired woodgrain pattern). Jawa’s Junkyard released a limited run of a 3D printed custom Gungi lightsaber in 2018. CaseStudyno8, a designer on Thingiverse, offers free 3D printing design files for a Gungi inspired lightsaber.
