Saberforge released the Desert Warrior lightsaber today. The custom saber is inspired by A’Shard Hett lightsaber from Legends. Desert Warrior, which features a laser-etched leather wrap and two braided tassels with fangs, exudes rustic vibes of nature and the samurai warriors. The saber is an improved and updated version of Saberforge’s previous Desert Warrior lightsaber, which had been discontinued in 2011.
Featuring a brushed metal finish, the Desert Warrior hilt flares out to widest part at the thick, disc-shaped emitter flange. The wide emitter flange doubles as a katana-style tsuba (handguard). The hilt narrows into a choke point, allowing for easier maneuvering and spinning. The body of the hilt features a chamfered (angled) activation box that protects the recessed activation switch. The earthy brown, genuine leather grip section features a laser-etched pattern on the front of the hilt. On the rear of the hilt, functional and decorative katana-style, ito lacing secures the wrap to the hilt. The hilt includes a Covertec wheel at the base of the hilt body, installed just above the pommel.
The long, ornate pommel features a series of pin-hole sound vents at the top, followed by a taper and flange. Below the flange, the pommel narrows into a series of grooves, culminating in small cylinder with a hole for the decorative tassels. The two braided tassels, which feature three fangs and eight brown beads on each tassel, loop through the pommel hole.
Desert Warrior uses a standard blade socket and accommodates a 1 inch diameter blade. Desert Warrior may be ordered as an empty hilt (Initiate Tier) or with electronics installed (Warrior, Champion, Veteran or Initiate Tier).
Saberforge, based in the United States, is one of the largest custom saber companies in the world. The company offers the widest selection custom lightsabers.
