Star Wars Ultimate FX Lightsaber Line: What You Should Know

The Star Wars Ultimate FX Lightsaber line, manufactured by Hasbro, is an officially licensed high-end plastic lightsaber toy line designed for children. Ultimate FX lightsabers, which light up and use a soundboard with motion activated sound, can be used for light play but are not durable enough for heavy dueling.

Similar to Star Wars Force FX lightsabers, Ultimate FX lightsabers are essentially a lower quality, kid friendly sister product line to the popular Force FX lightsaber line that’s designed for adult collectors. Ultimate FX lightsabers use a fixed blade (i.e. not retractable) that’s made of plastic and is permanently attached to the hilt.

The lightsabers run on three AA batteries and are recommended for ages 6 and up.  Although most Ultimate FX lightsabers retail for around $50 to $100, some of the Ultimate FX lightsabers are out of production and may sell for a higher dollar amount. Hasbro first launched the Ultimate FX lightsaber line in 2011.

Confusion with Force FX Lightsabers
Ultimate FX lightsabers are often confused with the higher quality Force FX lightsabers because of the similar features and names of the products. Some of the retired Ultimate FX lightsabers may sell for $150 or more, which is similar to the retail price of many Force FX lightsabers.
