Darth Malgus, an Old Republic era Sith Lord, constructs and wields the lightsaber in Star Wars Legends. He uses the weapon to duel and kill Jedi Master Kao Cen Darach and Jedi Master Ven Zallow among others. Malgus wields the weapon during the Great Galactic War up to the Third Galactic War.

The lightsaber’s emitter section is flanked by two intimidating, blade-like pieces with an ‘axe head’ style design. The Darth Malgus lightsaber is heavily damaged by the time of the Third Galactic War. The hilt’s signature ‘axe blade’ section appears particularly worn down and disfigured.
Malgus is a tall, pale, physically strong human male reliant on a cybernetic respirator. A skilled lightsaber duelist and eager front-line combatant, Darth Malgus defeats many opponents in lightsaber combat through his face-paced acrobatics and punishing brute strength. Malgus fuels his explosive lightsaber combat skills and Force abilities through anger, rage and clarity of focus.
