Dok-Ondar’s Den is the only place you can officially purchase the Jedi Holocron with Light and Sound, although the holocrons are on eBay and available in other second-hand marketplaces. In addition to selling a cube-shaped Jedi Holocron, Dok-Ondar’s Den sells a pyramid-shaped Sith Holocron as well.

What’s Included with the Jedi Holocron
The cube-shaped, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Jedi Holocron is light blue with gold colored trim. The holocron, which is plastic, comes in an attractive black, drawstring bag made of synthetic leather. The bag says ‘Black Spire Outpost’ on it in an angular, ‘Star Wars-y’ font. The holocron also includes a tag that, along with showing the price and the item title, provides tips for using the holocron. Finally, a USB cord is included as well to charge the holocron so that it can light up and make sounds.
You don’t need a kyber crystal to use the holocron. If there is no kyber crystal installed, the holocron will unlock dialogue from Obi-Wan Kenobi. If you’d like to unlock additional character dialogue, you’d need to purchase Galaxy’s Edge kyber crystals separately from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. If you’ve already constructed a build-your-own lightsaber from Savi’s Workshop, then you can remove the kyber crystal from the lightsaber in order to use the crystal with the holocron.
Holocron Kyber Crystal Options
I got a blue kyber crystal for the Jedi Holocron. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities sells kyber crystals in 7 different colors: red, blue, green, purple, yellow, white and the mysterious and rare black kyber crystal. Disney states that only 1 out of every 100 red kyber crystal canisters contain a black kyber crystal, making the black kyber crystal the rarest of all of the kyber crystals (as of 8/21/2019, black kyber crystals have sold on eBay for around $305-$750+ each).
Each kyber crystal color makes the holocron illuminate a different color (except the black kyber crystal one makes the holocron illuminate red). Each kyber crystal also unlocks a different set of spoken wisdom from mostly Jedi and Sith characters from the Star Wars franchise.
How to Use the Jedi Holocron
The Jedi Holocron features circles on the side. One circle contains the speaker vents and the plug-in for the USB cord to charcter the holocron. On the opposite side of the speaker/charging cube face, the circular section pulls out of the holocron, revealing a small drawer that holds the kyber crystal. Put the kyber crystal in the drawer, and slide the drawer closed again.
Now that the kyber crystal is installed in the holocron, the user can activate the holocron and unlock its secrets. To activate the holocron, turn one of the pyramid-shaped corners and the cube, and three other corners will turn. Just turn the corner the way it wants to go–don’t force the corner or you could break it. Next, repeat the practice and turn one of the remaining 4 pyramid-shaped corners, which will turn the other three corners. The holocron will illuminate and start making holocron activation sounds.
When the holocron is turned on, hold two opposite sides to unlock dialogue. Each kyber crystal color unlocks different character dialogue. The light pattern on the holocron flickers as the holocron plays the dialogue, which is a nice touch. Some of the dialogue is only a few words, while other dialogue contains 20+ words.
In order to turn off the holocron, rotate the corns back to their original position to form the cube shape. In fact, even if you move the corners slightly out of the alignment, the holocron will turn off.
How to Buy a Jedi Holocron
Both the Jedi Holocron (shown) and Sith Holocron (not shown) are officially available for purchase exclusively from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Disney World. Alternatively, many sellers on eBay and in other second hand marketplaces (e.g. Facebook) are selling Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge holocrons as well.
