Custom saber manufacturer One Replicas released a new lightsaber hilt called “Obi ARENA lightsaber replica DIY empty hilt” in their Etsy store [AFFILIATE LINK]. The hilt is unofficially modeled after the Obi-Wan Kenobi/Anakin Geonosis Arena clan hilt in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
The hilt is comprised a single piece main body and a two-piece pommel made up the pommel body and a vented pommel insert. The hilt’s blade holder is comprised of a brass core topped with an aluminum emitter tip. The hilt features both a blade retention screw and heat sink retention screw near the emitter.
The lightsaber hilt includes an aluminium heatsink, a switch holding, and an LED with lens holding part. Red anodized button actuators and screws to attach a chassis are also includes (although a chassis is NOT included). One Replicas plans to release a chassis for the hilt on Shapeways in the future.
The hilt is designed to accommodate a 1 inch diameter blade. The inside diameter (ID) is 29.2mm (aside from the 1” ID for the blade) and average Outside Diameter (OD) is 35.5mm.
Obi-Wan Kenobi/Anakin Geonosis Arena style lightsaber hilts, along with other clan lightsabers, have garnered a cult following among lightsaber enthusiasts. One Replicas is one of the few customer sabers companies to manufacture the hilt style and claims to make the most “accurate” version. The company had released Obi Arena hilts in previous years as well.
