The Shameem BrokeFlex lightsaber has been released. The realistic custom saber hilt is inspired by the appearance of the salvaged, broken-in-two Skywalker lightsaber (i.e. Graflex lightsaber) in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Sabersmith and artisan Shameem Moshrefzadeh creates the static display piece by heavily weathering and adding exposed, damaged internals to a custom Graflex lightsaber replica. Shameem began making the BrokeFlex lightsaber in late 2017 or early 2018 and has made a run of BrokeFlex lightsabers as recently as mid-2020.

The Shameem BrokeFlex lightsaber is a purely decorative work of art with no lights or electronics. The replica Graflex is ripped apart in the middle of the hilt with dented and flared out edges. The outer hilt features a tarnished or charred appearance. The split-in-two hilt reveals damaged, curled-out internals and an exposed blue kyber crystal chunk in each half of the hilt. Since Shameem customizes the weathering and damage to BrokeFlex lightsaber hilt by hand, there is some slight variation from hilt to hilt.

In late 2020, Shameem stated in the The Vault: A Custom Saber Community that he was completing his last BrokeFlex run for a while. It’s unclear if or when he may produce the BrokeFlex lightsaber again.
