Adegan Lightsaber Crystal Explained
Both Star Wars Canon and Legends content state that an Adegan crystal refers to one of five different kyber crystals, including the mephite crystal. Adegan crystals originate from the Adegan system.
Adegen Lightsaber Crystal in Star Wars Legends
Star Wars Legends presents a more illustrative and detailed background of the Adegan crystal than in Star Wars Canon. Although most of the crystals originate from the Adegan system, they are also found on the Mid Rim desert planet Halm, the Outer Rim Territories planet Mygeeto, and in the Cularin system asteroid belt.
Five Types of Adegen Crystals (listed from most common to most rare):
• kathracite crystal
• relacite crystal
• danite crystal
• mephite crystal
• pontite crystal
Kathracite, relacite, and danite, the three most common Adegan crystals, are typically only installed in training lightsabers due to their weaker energy focusing abilities. The uncommon mephite and extremely rare pontite are high quality crystals that are much harder to find than the three other Adegan crystals and also Illum crystals. Due to the rarity of mephite and pontite, the vast majority of Jedi prior to the Great Jedi Purge wields lightsabers using Illum crystals.
Qui-Gon Jinn’s lightsaber (green-bladed), Obi-Wan Kenobi’s first lightsaber (blue-bladed), and Anakin Skywalker’s first lightsaber (blue-bladed) each use an Adegan crystal.
