Viridian Lightsaber Crystal | Kyber Crystal Profile

The viridian lightsaber crystal is a rare lightsaber crystal that produces silvery-green lightsaber blade. The nuanced blade color is similar to a standard green lightsaber, but a bit more pale or washed-out in appearance. The viridian crystal first appears in Star Wars Legends in the 2004 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords (KOTOR II) and later in several expansions of the Star Wars: The Old Republic video game.

Viridian Lightsaber Crystal in Star Wars Legends

The viridian crystals originates from Viridia system, a star system in the Outer Rim Territories. The rare crystals may be used during lightsaber construction to produce a silvery-green blade. No specific characters within Star Wars Legends are known to have wielded lightsabers equipped with viridian crystals.

Behind the Scenes

The viridian crystal first appears in Star Wars Legends in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords (2004). The viridian crystal also appears in two expansions of the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic. The crystal appears in the expansion Knights of the Eternal Throne (2016) and the expansion Onslaught (2019).

The word viridian is derived from the Latin word viridis, which means “green”. In real life, “viridian” is a blue-green pigment similar in color to teal.

Saberforge Viridian Soundboard

Custom saber company Saberforge previously equipped sound sabers with a soundboard named SaberCore Viridian (‘light side’ style sounds) or SaberCore Crimson (‘dark side’ style sounds). In 2017, Saberforge discontinued the SaberCore Viridian soundboard and SaberCore Crimson soundboard and released the SaberCore 3.0 soundboard.
