Savi’s Workshop Protection and Defense Lightsaber Theme Explained | Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
The Savi’s Workshop Protection and Defense lightsaber theme is comprised of Old Republic era lightsaber parts. The scrap metal pieces look like ancient artifacts with a regal coloring and design. The textured, stucco-like finish makes Protection and Defense parts appear as if they are forged using a more crude and imperfect method than more “modern” Savi’s Workshop lightsaber themes. Protection and Defense is dominated by metallic silver coloring with gold and bronze colored accents. The theme uses very little black, excluding one of the sleeve options.

Protection and Defense lightsaber builders may select 5 of the 10 possible scrap metal pieces when constructing their lightsaber including: 1 emitter, 2 sleeves, 1 switch, and 1 endcap (pommel). Let’s take a closer look at the Savi’s Workshop Protection and Defense theme options.
Protection and Defense Emitter Options
Protection and Defense offers two emitter options: a flat-topped, flanged emitter and an emitter with gold-leaf-like adornment that protrudes out of the top of the hilt, a bit like a clawed emitter. Both emitter pieces are predominantly silver with gold and bronze accents.
Protection and Defense Sleeve Options
Protection and Defense offers four sleeve options that are all radically different from each other. The lightsaber builder must select two sleeves. One sleeve is a ribbed grip section with raised silver rings and deep, black grooves. Another sleeve is mostly metallic silver with raised, angular gold accents and a raised copper rim. A third sleeve is mostly metallic silver with geometric engravings. The final sleeve is mostly metallic silver with two raised bands with grooves and three small, raised copper circles that extend down either side.
Protection and Defense Switch Options
One switch option is mostly metallic silver with an activation switch shaped like a gold leaf. The other switch option is also mostly metallic silver with three raised, horizontal, copper accents and a stadium shaped gold activation switch.
Protection and Defense Pommel Options
Two end cap/pommel options are available both of which feature a Covertec wheel on the side. One mostly silver endcap is flanked by two gold, leaf-like wings and features a copper band. The other mostly silver endcap features a copper band, a thinner, gold band and a low-profile copper colored decoration on the side.
