A lightsaber pike is a lightsaber variant with a long hilt and short blades. The Jedi Temple Guards wield yellow-bladed, doubled-bladed lightsaber pikes in Star Wars Canon. A lightsaber pike resembles and maneuvers in a similar way to the more prevalent double-bladed lightsaber. A lightsaber pike uses a long hilt with much shorter blades than a doubled-bladed lightsaber, however.

The lightsaber pike first appeared in Star Wars Canon in the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode “The Wrong Jedi” (2013, Season 5, Episode 20). The lightsaber pike first appeared in Star Wars Legends in the novel The Force Unleashed (2008).
Behind the Scenes
During the planning stages of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode “The Wrong Jedi”, Temple Guards were going to wield green-bladed lightsaber pikes. The blade color was changed to yellow, making the Jedi Temple Guard lightsaber pike the first yellow-bladed lightsaber in Star Wars Canon.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated television series developed concept art for a single-bladed Sith lightsaber pike. Darth Bane would have wielded the Sith lightsaber pike in the episode “Sacrifice” (2014, Season 6, Episode 14). The Sith lightsaber pike concept was discarded.
A real world pike is a long, spear-headed pole weapon. European foot soldiers commonly used pikes until the 18th century.
Lightsaber Pikes in Real Life
Disney sells a high-end Jedi Temple Guard Legacy Lightsaber at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. Unfortunately, the lightsaber is singled-bladed and Disney does not offer a coupler to join two hilts together to form a Jedi Temple Guard lightsaber pike.
Several custom saber companies sell extension pieces and short lightsaber blades (i.e. 16 inches long) that allow lightsaber enthusiasts to convert a standard lightsaber (single-bladed or double-bladed) into a lightsaber pike. Ultrasabers sells a yari (pike) extension piece. Saberforge sells multiple Staff Extension pieces. The Custom Saber Shop features an entire section of extensions varying in length and design.
