Galaxy’s Edge is the new Star Wars Land that’s opening soon at Disneyland and Disney World in 2019. Galaxy’s Edge will have two different lightsaber stores. One store is called Savi’s Workshop, which will be a build-your-own lightsaber shop. The other store is called Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, which will be a Star Wars style ‘relic and antique’ store that sells pre-made Legacy Lightsabers, which are character inspired lightsabers.

A lot of the mainstream media seems to emphasize the fact that Disney lightsabers will cost more than 1-day admission to a Disney park. Although Disney lightsabers do in fact cost more than Disney park admission, does the price comparison prove that the Disney parks lightsabers are too expensive? Even lightsaber enthusiasts that are somewhat new to the custom saber community quickly realize paying around $200 or for a custom lightsaber with sound is very common. High end lightsabers easily cost $500 all the way up $1000 or even more. Also, the existing officially licensed Hasbro The Black Series Force FX lightsabers cost around $120 to $200 each, depending on the vendor and any sales or promos that may be occurring. The media coverage of the new Disney lightsabers rarely, if ever, refers to the Force FX lightsaber line at all, which are similarly priced to the new Disney lightsabers.
