If you’re wondering how many companies that make officially licensed lightsabers, there are only a handful of companies that produce or used to produce officially licensed lightsabers. Hasbro currently manufactures both low-end, toy lightsabers along with the popular Star Wars: The Black Series Force FX lightsabers. Master Replicas used to produce licensed, high-end lightsaber prop replicas and Force FX lightsabers before the company lost the license and went out of business EFX Collectibles and ICONS Collectibles also manufactured licensed lightsaber prop replicas in the past. Rubies makes officially licensed, cheap Halloween costume lightsabers.

How many unlicensed, custom lightsaber companies are there? Answering that question is much more difficult. There are so many custom saber companies out there that I can’t even name them all (yeah, there really are that many!). Also, where’s the cutoff between a small scale hobby and a business? Everyone will have a different opinion. The internet is filled with lots of single person operations, selling lightsabers through Facebook, Instagram and Etsy. How large does the company need to be or how many sales do they need to have before you would consider them to be a ‘lightsaber company’?

Some of the major custom saber companies include: Ultrasabers, Saberforge, Vader’s Vault, Kyberlight, The Custom Saber Shop, Korbanth, Roman Props, Sabertrio, Electrum Sabercrafts, Genesis Custom Sabers, JQ Sabers, and KR Sabers.

The lightsaber hobby is growing rapidly. Many new lightsaber companies keep popping up so every year, so it’s increasingly hard to take a census of all of them. That said, feel free to check out the SaberSourcing List of Lightsaber Companies. It’s a pretty thorough list and I’m always updating it when I learn about new lightsaber companies.
