Disney Kanan Jarrus Legacy Lightsaber | New Saber Alert

Disney released the Kanan Jarrus Legacy Lightsaber. The hilt is Disney’s first ever katana style legacy lightsaber, featuring an iconic round tsuba (handguard) near the emitter. You can even remove the emitter section and wear the hilt in two separate pieces, just like Kanan Jarrus himself!

Disney released the lightsaber hilt at Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in early November. The lightsaber hilt will become available for purchase online at shopDisney on November 29, 2023.

Kanan Jarrus Legacy Lightsaber Hilt Description

Hilt, a metal construction, measures 14 in long and weighs about 1.2 lbs (about 454 gs). A large black rubber grip attaches to the front side while a series of thin, black rubber vertical grips attach to the rear side. Although batteries are included, you’ll need to replace them eventually. Access the battery pack by unscrewing the pommel at the base of the hilt. A metal D-ring, compatible with a variety of D-ring belt clips, attaches to the pommel. Note that this hilt does NOT include D-ring belt clip. Hilt includes different style belt clips instead (more on those later).

A segmented gold colored card tops the activation box. Luke ROTJ-style decorative green and red arrows adorn the left side of the box. Turn on/off the lightsaber by sliding the rectangular black activation switch above the decorative arrows.

Attaching the Galaxy’s Edge Lightsaber Blade

Attach the blade the hilt by unscrewing and removing the emitter. Next, connect the blade to the hilt. Finally, slide the emitter over the blade and screw the emitter back into the hilt. Note that the Galaxy’s Edge lightsaber blade is sold separately. Blade illuminates blue when attached to this hilt.

Unique C-Shaped Spring Clips

Kanan Jarrus Legacy lightsaber includes two black belt clips: one holds the hilt horizontally while the other holds the hilt vertically. The c-shaped spring clips, made of plastic, hold the cylindrical hilt in place with spring tension. Hilt includes two belt clips so you can wear the emitter part of the hilt and the hilt body separately on your belt, just like Kanan Jarrus himself! Only attach the clips to the metal portion of the hilt. Attaching the clip to the rubber grips may scuff them up a bit.

Clam-Shell Cargo Box

Like other standard legacy lightsabers, the Kanan Jarrus hilt comes inside a plastic cargo box. Press the Starbird logo in the center to unlatch the lid and open the dark gray box.

Printed Aurebesh writing adorns the top of the box. The text reads, “Padawan Caleb Dume, Kanan Jarrus”. Following the enactment of Order 66, Jedi Padawan Caleb Dume changed his name to Kanan Jarrus in order to avoid detection from the Empire.

A Fan Choice Poll Winner

The full title of the item is “Kanan Jarrus (Jedi Padawan Caleb Dume) Fan Choice Legacy Lightsaber Hilt”. The hilt design won a StarWars.com fan poll in 2022. Other hilts options in the poll were: Jocasta Nu, Padawan Barriss Offee, Quinlan Vos, Sifo-Dyas and Depa Billaba.

The Kanan Jarrus hilt lost a previous fan choice in 2020. The Cal Kestis lightsaber (Jedi: Fallen Order) won the 2020 fan poll.
