Dark Gray Legacy Lightsaber Cargo Box

The dark gray cargo box with a clam-shell lid allows users to easily store and display their legacy lightsaber. The sides of the box somewhat resembles the wings of an Imperial TIE fighter. Press down the green Rebel Alliance chevron to unlatch and open the cargo box. Inside the box, the Luke Skywalker lightsaber hilt nests in a fabric covered, form-fitting piece of plastic. The bottom of the box features discreet sticker identifying the lightsaber as the Luke Skywalker Legacy Lightsaber hilt and also battery instructions.

Although all legacy lightsabers come in a similar cargo box, each box is slightly different in design and size to fit different character hilts. The chevron/logo on the button is also different for different characters and the color of the button matches the blade color of the character hilt. The Luke Skywalker legacy lightsaber box features the Alliance Starbird (i.e. Rebel logo) with a green blackground.

The inside of the box features black fabric on top with an injection molded plastic tray beneath it. The plastic tray forms to the specific shape of the Luke Skywalker Legacy lightsaber hilt. A hidden section under the plastic tray stores the second “thick neck” emitter (more on that later).

What’s in the Box?

The Luke Skywalker legacy lightsaber includes: the plastic cargo box, the Luke Skywalker legacy lightsaber hilt (batteries included), and a second emitter section to use with a lightsaber blade. The buyer must purchase a Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge lightsaber blade, Galaxy’s Edge lightsaber hilt stand, and other accessories separately.

The custom Jaymoos Playground blade is a rare custom blade that is compatible with Savi’s Workshop lightsabers and legacy lightsabers. Most custom blades are NOT compatible with legacy lightsabers.

Note that without an attached blade the lightsaber does NOT make any sounds or function. Without a blade, the hilt serves as a display piece or cosplay piece only.

  • lightsaber with attached blade (not illuminated)
  • Luke Skywalker Legacy Lightsaber inside box
  • lightsaber hilt with both the thin neck and the thick neck
  • lightsaber disassembled (two necks)
  • Legacy Lightsaber box with Alliance Starbird and green background
  • control box with sliding black activation switch on the side

  • legacy lightsaber box (top)
  • lightsaber hilt with thick neck
  • legacy lightsaber box bottom

Unlatching the box allows you either put the lightsaber hilt on display or to access the lightsaber. The Luke Skywalker legacy lightsaber hilt includes two different emitter sections: a thin neck emitter section for display only and a “thick neck” emitter section that accommodates a lightsaber blade. The thin neck emitter more closely resembles the Luke Skywalker lightsaber on screen (the “thick neck” emitter is stored out of the way in the bottom of the box).

Moving down the hilt, the control box attaches to the lower middle of the hilt. The black button on the side of the control box slides up in order to activate the lightsaber (blade must be attached for the lightsaber to turn on). A tri-ring attaches to the side of one of the ‘gear tooth’ notches in the lower part of the hilt.

Luke Skywalker Legacy Lightsaber with Blade Attached

When you attach a blade to the hilt, slide the black button on the side of the control box to activate the lightsaber. The blade lights up green with progressive ignition from the emitter area up to the tip of the blade. Just like in the Star Wars movies, not all of the Galaxy’s Edge lightsabers sound the same. The Luke Skywalker lightsaber makes lightsaber sounds similar to the Luke Skywalker lightsaber in Return of the Jedi. Different character legacy lightsabers make slightly different hum, swing, and clash sounds.

The green blade briefly flickers to yellow upon impact with something (i.e. Flash on Clash). Slide the black switch to deactivate the lightsaber. Watch the progressive deactivation of the blade starting from the blade tip back to emitter.
