Artel Darc Lightsaber in Star Wars Legends

During the Clone Wars, Artel Darc serves as a Dark Acolyte of a Count Dooku, a leader of the Separatist movement and secret Dark Lord of the Sith. The Artel Darc lightsaber is comprised of a two-toned hilt that is black and silver in color.

Darc commands Separatist forces and enslaves the Rybet inhabitants on Dagu, a swamp planet in the Outer Rim Territories. Jedi Master Shaak Ti ultimately liberates the planet from Separatist control.

The fate of Artel Darc is unknown, although Count Dooku and most of his Dark Acolytes die during the Clone Wars.

Behind the Scenes

The Artel Darc lightsaber appears on the cover of Star Wars: Escape from Dagu, a cancelled Clone Wars novel originally slated for release in 2004. Written by William C. Dietz, artist Dave Seeley created the cover art for the book. In the cover art, Dark Acolyte Artel Darc is engaging in a lightsaber duel with Jedi Master Shaak Ti.

Although the book was cancelled, Artel Darc became canon within Star Wars Legends when The Official Star Wars Fact File 116 (2004) refers to Darc along with some of the events in the unpublished novel.
