Lord Calypho Lightsaber in Star Wars Legends
The Lord Calypho lightsaber is comprised of a cylindrical hilt with wide, flared fins near the emitter area. The Sith lightsaber emits a red blade. Lord Calypho wears the weapon in a lightsaber holster on his belt.
Lord Calypho serves the Sith Empire. Calypho discovers a Force sensitive slave boy named Teneb Kel. The Sith Lord takes on Kel as his apprentice, training the boy on the Sith homeworld Korriban.
The Dark Council accuses Lord Calypho of “overreaching” and imprisons him in the Imperial Citadel on the planet Dromund Kaas. As a test, the Dark Council orders Teneb Kel to fight and kill his master in front of three Dark Council members including Darth Marr. Master and apprentice both ignite their respective lightsabers and engage in a lightsaber duel.
The Council ultimately spares Calypho’s life intending to torture him to the edge of death to prompt the Sith Lord to experience visions of the future.
Teneb Kel ascends to the rank of Sith Lord and takes the name Darth Thanaton.
