Darth Azard Lightsaber in Star Wars Legends

The Darth Azard lightsaber is comprised of a curved-metal hilt with an emitter on either end. A single claw extends out of the emitter on each end of the hilt. Azard wields the lightsaber both as a single-bladed lightsaber and as a double-bladed lightsaber.

A skilled lightsaber duelist, Azard also utilizes additional Force abilities including: Force choke and Force lightning. He also successfully uses the Force to create a Force shield around him during a battle.

Darth Azard oversees the Outer Rim Third Fleet. In 137 ABY, Emperor Darth Krayt vows to enact revenge against the Mon Calamari for aligning with the Galactic Alliance. Darth Azard and several additional Sith Lords accompany Krayt to Dac, a planet in the Calamari system. Krayt orders the execution of ten percent of the Mon Calamari population on the planet and sends the remaining Dac citizens to internment camps. During the early stages of the siege, the Mon Calamari form a resistance movement.

The Imperial Knights Treis Sinde and Sigel Dare help free some imprisoned Rogue Squadron pilots and steal Azard’s ship. Sensing a disturbance in the Force, Darth Azard investigates. Imperial Knight Treis Sinde engages Azard in a lightsaber duel in order to buy the group time to escape. Azard ignites only one of his lightsaber’s blades during the battle. During the fierce duel, blaster fire from the shuttle causes an explosion. The explosion enables Sinde to escape. Azard uses the Force to create a protective shield around himself, protecting himself from the blast.

Sea Leviathan and the Final Protocol

Darth Azard oversees the genocide on Dac. He is encouraged to expedite the extermination. Azard and the Sith scientist Vul Isen use the Force to awaken the Sea Leviathan, a semi-sentient bio-weapon. The creature attacks by simultaneously absorbing life energy and sentience from individuals. Treis Sinde returns using the Force to command a group of devilsquids. The devilsquids swarm and attack the Sea Leviathan. Azard’s vessel is damaged during the battle. He narrowly escapes with assistance of Isen. The devilsquids defeat the Leviathan.

Darth Azard and Vul Isen are in charge of enacting the Final Protocol, a swift poisoning of the oceans on Dac. Galactic Alliance Remnant and the New Jedi Order managed to help save about 20 percent of the planet’s population during the Evacuation of Dac. Following the devastation of the planet, Azard and Isen continue to hunt down and killing additional Mon Calamari.

Duel on Utapau and Death

Azard and Isen journey to the planet Utapau. They prepare to poison the planet for their role in helping the Alliance and for aiding refugees from Dac. Cade Skywalker and Wolf Sazen attack the two Sith. Sazen kills Azard with a spinning lightsaber cut. Meaning, Skywalker kills Isen and prevents the scientist from releasing the toxin on the planet.
