89 Sabers Qui-Gon Jinn Lightsaber Hilt Review

This is an 89 Sabers custom Qui-Gon Jinn lightsaber hilt. 89 Sabers, sometimes written 89sabers, is a China based custom saber company. I purchased the hilt second hand so I didn’t get the hilt from 89 Sabers directly. This is neat hilt right out of the box since the hilt is mostly assembled. If you’d like to make the hilt kit display ready or cosplay ready, all you would need to do is attach metallic red switch more securely to the hilt. The blade plug, which is included, helps complete the look of the hilt as well.

The 89 Sabers Qui-Gon Jinn lightsaber hilt features a removable shroud with a compartment underneath. To remove the shroud, simply unscrew the Covertec wheel and slide the shroud off the hilt. Then, unscrew one additional screw in order to access a hidden compartment. The compartment increases access to the inside of the hilt for sabersmiths or installers.

The top of the hilt features a blade plug with a elegant, minimalistic design. The blade plug has a metal, flat top. The flat top has an indented circle in the center. A discreet set screw serves as a blade retention screw near the top of the emitter section.

The hilt features with deep grooves in the grip section, a vibrant removable shroud with a mirror finish, and a metallic red switch with knurling on the side. The pommel is removable and threaded female. The hilt is about 11.5 inches long and about 1.5 inches in diameter with about a 1 inch inside diameter (ID). It’s not an overly larger hilt and feels comfortable in the hand. The 89 Sabers Qui-Gon Jinn (custom) lightsaber hilt comfortable to hold, and install friendly, and all around gorgeous in design.
