What is NSR? (Lightsaber Terminology)

NSR is a commonly used term in lightsaber forums, in the r/lightsabers subreddit, and in lightsaber Facebook groups like The Vault: A Custom Lightsaber Community. NSR means ‘Not Saber Related’. A user will label a post as ‘NSR’ in order to let others know that the topic is NOT related to the lightsaber hobby in terms of building, buying, selling, installing, customizing, troubleshooting, etc.

Often, but not always, an NSR post relates to Star Wars in some way. An NSR topic could discuss Star Wars characters or stories. An NSR topic could discuss products related to lightsaber like costumes, blasters or other Star Wars related props. An NSR post could also be a meme or piece of artwork. Some NSR topics don’t relate to Star Wars at all.

Sometimes people label a post as NSR even if it’s a drawing of a lightsaber. The rationale of labeling a lightsaber drawing as NSR is possibly due to fact the drawing may not relate to the buying, selling or constructing of a tangible lightsaber prop.
