Hasbro manufactures the popular Star Wars: The Black Series Force FX lightsaber line. Black Series Force FX lightsabers are officially licensed, collectible lightsabers that light up and make sound and retail for around $100 to $200.
There are currently 7 Star Wars: The Black Series Force FX lightsabers, including:
1. Yoda (green blade)
2. Darth Vader (red blade)
3. Luke Skywalker (blue blade, Graflex-style)
4. Kylo Ren (red blades)
5. Luke Skywalker (green blade, Return of the Jedi style)
6. Obi-Wan Kenobi (blue blade, Original Trilogy style)
7. Rey (Jedi Training) (blue blade, Graflex style)
Two of the seven Black Series: Force FX lightsabers are the Graflex-style lightsaber.
The current selection of Star Wars: The Black Series Force FX lightsabers encompasses some of the most popular and famous Star Wars lightsaber hilts of all time.
Some of the Star Wars: The Black Series Force FX lightsabers are rare. Although the lightsabers retail for between around $100 and $200, some of the rare models sell for higher than retail. The more rare Black Series Force FX lightsabers are: Yoda, Luke Skywalker (blue blade), and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Surprisingly, Hasbro DID NOT release any new Black Series lightsabers to coincide with the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but this is likely due to the fact the film didn’t include any prominently featured new lightsaber hilts. Although the Ben Solo lightsaber hilt, depicted in the movie’s flashback scenes, has garnered a cult following among some Star Wars fans, the hilt receives only brief screen time and lacks mass appeal.
The Star Wars movies are filled with many other popular lightsaber hilts that could be released as Black Series Force FX lightsabers, including:
– Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber (Episode I/II)
– Darth Maul double bladed lightsaber
– Count Dooku lightsaber
– Mace Windu lightsaber
– Darth Sidious lightsaber
– Qui-Gon Jinn lightsaber
Despite these popularity of these hilt styles among fans, though, many of the possible hilts lack the mass appeal that Hasbro may desire. Also, some hilt styles would be more complicated and expensive to make. The Darth Maul lightsaber would be more expensive since it’s two lightsabers in one and the curved hilt design for the Count Dooku saber would complicate the manufacturing process.
What’s the next Black Series Force FX lightsaber? I think Rey’s new lightsaber in Star Wars Episode 9 will be the next Force FX lightsaber. But that’s just a guess.
