Today I’m unboxing my very first Ultrasabers Mystery Box lightsaber. I’d previously gotten a variety of Ultrasabers Grab Bag Sabers, but this is my very first Mystery Box Saber.
I open the box to find my Mystery Box Saber wrapped in brown paper. Several things are written on the brown paper in permanent marker including: hilt model, switch type, whether there’s sound or not, JD (not sure what this means), and Pedro (I’m guessing Pedro is the guy who filled the order or approved the order). I receive an Apprentice LE V4 stunt saber (no sound) with an adegan silver LED. Initially, I’m confused because the hilt appears to be a standard Apprentice V4, but the brown paper had been marked “Apprentice LE V4”. On closer inspection I realize that the saber IS in fact an Ultrasabers Apprentice LE V4, but the gold-colored accents on my Apprentice LE V4 are much more muted than the gold-colored accents of a typical Apprentice LE V4. Ultrasabers states that Mystery Box Sabers may have minor cosmetic flaws, so the cosmetic flaw on my new saber is a more muted color.
Looking back, I’m a little disappointed in the faded coloring. Some viewers commented that that they like the more faded appearance of the coloring because it seems more realistic. I can understand that point of view, but I still would have preferred the regular coloring.
