All of the Twi’lek Sith Lords: Darth Talon and Beyond

Twi’lek Sith Lords are rare in Star Wars. Twi’lik individuals are omnivorous humanoids with distinctive tentacles called lekku extending from the base of their hairless skull. The species has a wide range of skin coloration and eye coloration. The Twi’lek homeworld is Ryloth, a rocky planet in the Outer Rim Territories.

Although Twi’leks are widespread and commonplace across the far reaches of the galaxy, Twi’lek Sith Lords are rare and a much less common sight than their Twi’lek Jedi counterparts! Let’s explore the few Twi’lek Sith Lords who do exist, including fan-favorite Darth Talon.

1. Sith Lord Kopecz

Twi’lek Sith Lord Kopecz is born on Ryloth, the rocky Outer Rim Territories homeworld of the Twi’leks. Although he initially learns the ways of the Force under the guidance of the Jedi Order, he turns to the dark side and leaves the Jedi Order during the waning decades of the New Sith Wars. He is a crucial early member of the Brotherhood of Darkness, a Sith organization founded by Lord Skere Kaan, a former Jedi Master himself.

A skilled pilot, Kopecz is strong in the Force and a proficient lightsaber duelist. He wields a red lightsaber. He is known for his practical nature and for standing up to Lord Skere Kaan when he disagrees with Kaan’s plans. The charismatic Kaan often ultimately wins Kopecz over, however.

Kopecz becomes injured during an attack from the Army of Light. Kopecz’s former ally Jedi Lord Valenthyne Farfalla, a member of the Army of Light, ultimately kills Kopecz in a lightsaber duel on Ruusan in 1000 BBY.

2. Twi’lek Sith Lord Darth Talon

Fan-favorite Darth Talon is a Legacy era third-generation Sith. Traditional Sith tattoos cover her body, including her lekku. The Twi’lek female Talon grows up and immerses herself in the dark side of the Force at the Sith Academy on Korriban, the homeworld of the Sith. Darth Ruyn, a male Twi’lek, takes on Talon as his apprentice. She hones her skills as an assassin. When Darth Krayt, founder of the One Sith and a new Galactic Empire, commands her to kill her own master, she unquestioningly complies. She ascends to position as Hand, a trusted, capable and loyal servant an assassin who only answers to Emperor Krayt.

Upon Krayt’s command, Talon takes on Cade Skywalker as an apprentice and attempts to seduce him to the dark side of the Force. The pair become close over time, although Talon remains unconvinced of his intentions to embrace the dark side. When Krayt commands Skywalker to kill a Jedi or die, Skywalker refuses. Talon attacks him and he impales, injuring her.

Darth Talon remains fiercely loyal to Darth Krayt until his demise and the collapse of his Galactic Empire. Talon and other Sith survivors go into hiding and plot their revenge.

George Lucas originally intended for Darth Talon to appear in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy as a marquee villain alongside Darth Maul, but the story line ultimately showcased Kylo Ren’s fall to the dark side instead.

3. Dark Lord of the Sith Kas’im

The Twi’lek male Kas’im is born enslaved on the Mid Rim planet Nal Hutta, the capital of Hutt Space, around the time of the New Sith Wars. Sith Lord Na’daz, also a Twi’lek male, purchases Kas’im from slavery and takes on the young boy as his apprentice. Through his years of training, Kas’im becomes an extremely skilled lightsaber duelist, becoming proficient in all seven forms of lightsaber combat. When his lightsaber skills and power comes to exceed his master, Kas’im kills Na’daz in a duel and takes his master’s curved lightsaber as a trophy.

Kas’im joins Lord Skere Kaan’s Brotherhood of Darkness. Battle prowess and skill with the lightsaber inspired Kaan to appoint Kas’im to the position of Sith Blademaster at the Sith Academy on the Sith homeworld Korriban. He trains the Sith students in all seven forms of lightsaber combat.

Kas’im observed and oversaw the training of a powerful and promising student named Bane. Against the wishes of the Academy’s headmaster, Kas’im secretly provides Bane extra training in private. Bane leaves the Academy and the Brotherhood after a conflict with the Headmaster. Kas’im confronts his former student on Ruusan, appealing for him to rejoin the Brotherhood. When Bane refuses, the pair engage in a lightsaber duel. Bane ultimately defeats and kills his former master in battle.

4. Darth Luft

Darth Luft is a Legacy era Twi’lek male Sith Lord. He member of the One Sith and Darth Krayt’s Galactic Empire. Like several other One Sith members, traditional black Sith tattoos adorn his face and body. After Darth Krayt’s death in 137 ABY, Luft leads a secretive pirate syndicate. Darth Luft and Darth Wredd held mutual animosity towards each other each wishing the other dead.

Imperial Knight Jao Assam and junk dealer Ania Solo discover his illicit operations, reporting their findings to the newly formed Galactic Federation Triumvirate. The Triumvirate dispatches a task force to apprehend the pirates. During the operation, Jao Assam and Darth Luft engage in a lightsaber duel. During battle, the pair become separated. Assam manages to sneak up behind Luft, however, igniting his lightsaber through the Sith Lord’s back, killing him instantly.

5. Sith Apprentice Yuthura Ban

Sometime prior to the Jedi Civil War, Yuthura Ban, a Force sensitive Twi’lek female, is born on Sleheyron, an Outer Rim Territories planet in Hutt Space. Growing up enslaved, she seeks vengeance against her slave master. She stabs him and flees her homeworld by stowing away on a cargo ship. The crew abandons her on an uninhabited planetoid. The Jedi Order eventually discovers her and trains her a Jedi.

Although she ascends to the rank of Jedi Padawan, Ban abandons the Jedi Order when she becomes frustrated again the organization’s inaction against slavery. She journeys to the Sith homeworld, Korriban. She is accepted at the Sith Academy on the planet where Sith Master Ulthar Wynn, the headmaster of the academy, selects her as his apprentice. He helps her learn to focus her anger. Ban eventually becomes a lead instructor and comes to oversee admissions to the Academy.

Yuthura Ban works together with a new recruit named Revan to overthrow her master. Endeavoring to take control of the Academy, she turns on Revan as a potential rival. Revan defeats her in battle, however, and helps convince her to redeem herself and turn back to the light side of the Force.

6. Sith Ry Nymbis

According to legend, Ry Nymbis, a Twi’lek male, felt a dark presence in the Force growing inside him from birth. His mother raises him on the Twi’lek homeworld Ryloth. Although his mother loves and him strives to protect him, many individuals come to avoid Nymbis, sensing the growing darkness inside him. Nymbis largely withdraws from society until a hooded figure name Darth Caldoth approaches him and offers to train him as his apprentice.

Nymbis leaves Ryloth with Darth Caldoth. Caldoth intentionally abandons his new apprentice at a slave camp on the world Simoth. Slavers force Nymbis to fight vicious creatures and other slave in a gladiator pit. Seven years later, Caldoth returns to the planet, ignites his red lightsaber, and slaughters both the slavers and prisoners alike until only Nymbis is left standing. Enraged, Nymbis charges at Caldoth, but the Sith Lord easily defeats him. Caldoth begins Nymbis’ formal Sith training. The pair study ancient mystical powers together and they eventually become the most powerful individuals in the galaxy.

Caldoth and Nymbis come to distrust and despise each other. Nymbis plots to use a Sith stone ritual to encase his master in stone forever and trapping him in an eternal nightmare. Sensing his apprentice’s betrayal, Caldoth modifies the words in the ritual. When Nymbis uses the modified Sith stone ritual, he inadvertently traps himself in stone forever instead of his master.

7. Darth Atroxa

Often confused with Darth Talon, female Twi’lik Sith Lord Darth Atroxa serves the Sith Empire during the Old Republic era. During the Eternal Empire’s conquests against the Sith Empire and Galactic Republic, Atroxa defends the Sith homeworld against an Eternal Empire raid. The Sith commander of the planet’s forces, she engages in a brief lightsaber duel with the Eternal Empire’s Prince Arcann. Arcann strikes her down. The Sith Empire suffers heavy losses from the attack.

8. Sith Lord Fanoste

Fanoste, a Legacy era male Twi’lek Sith Lord, serves the One Sith. He utilizes a cover identity as a diplomat in order to blend in and collect intelligence. In 139 ABY Fanoste commands an army tasked with killing the renegade Sith Lord Darth Wredd on the planet Mala. Wredd ultimately kills Fanoste in battle.
