All of the Ithorian Jedi in the Star Wars Galaxy

Several Ithorian individuals become Jedi in Star Wars. Originating from the planet Ithor, Ithorians have four throats and two stomachs. An extremely pacifist culture, Ithorians exile violent individuals from their plant. Ithorian culture values nature. Hunting on Ithor is strictly forbidden. Two of the most famous Ithorian individuals among Star Wars fans may well be Momaw Nadon, an exiled Ithorian, from the Tatooine cantina and 240-year-old relic collector Dok-Ondar from Batuu.

Let’s explore 6 of the most famous Ithorian Jedi along with several additional minor characters at the end.

1. Mikkel Sutmani and His Starfighter

Ithorian male Jedi Master Mikkel Sutmani serves the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic during the High Republic era. A skilled pilot, Sumanti flies a Jedi Vector on many missions. In the aftermath of the Great Hyperspace Disaster, the Ithorian Jedi along with his friend and fellow Jedi Te’Ami and several other Jedi accept a mission to retrieve the flight recorder from the destroyed freight transport Legacy Run. Nihil forces attack Sutmani and other Jedi during the mission. Te’Ami saves Sutmani’s life when her ship collides with a missile approaching Sutmani’s Vector.

2. Roron Corobb and His Encounter with General Grievous

When Separatist General Grievous storms the Galactic City during the Clone Wars, Ithorian Jedi Master Roron Corobb, Jedi Master Shaak Ti, and a clone task force work to protect Chancellor Palpatine from capture. Corobb and Ti arrive at Palpatine’s apartment to escort him to a safer location. The chancellor refuses to flee. Meanwhile, lightsaber-wielding Grievous and his electrostaff-equipped MagnaGuards attack. Corobb is killed in the ensuing conflict. The Jedi Master’s green-bladed lightsaber joins the notorious General Grievous lightsaber collection.

3. Jedi Youngling Byph and His Gathering

During the Clone Wars, Ithorian Jedi youngling Byph is studying and training to become a Jedi. He and five other younglings journey to the planet Illum for the rite of passage known as The Gathering. On the planet, the youngling must locate a kyber crystal to construct their first lightsaber. After all five younglings successfully find a kyber crystal, Ahsoka Tano guides the initiates to the starship the Crucible. While on board, architect droid Huyang guides the younglings in their construction of their lightsaber hilt.

Before Byph and the other younglings complete their lightsabers, Hondo Ohnaka and his group of Weequay pirates board the ship and capture Ahsoka Tano. The younglings work together and follow the pirates to the nearby planet Florrum. They sneak into the lair and manage to free Tano, but the pirates ultimately capture Tano and younglings. When Separatist forces invade the planet, however, the Jedi and the pirates work together to escape the planet and locate Republic forces. The Republic ultimately lets the pirates go free.

The fate of Jedi youngling Byph, along with most of his cohorts, is unknown. Although it’s unknown if Byph survived the enactment of Order 66, his fellow youngling, Wookiee Jedi initiate Gungi is confirmed to have survived.

4. Noga-ta aka “Rusty”: The LEGO Ithorian Jedi

Noga-ta, an Ithorian male Jedi Knight, serves the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. He arrives on the planet Barab I as two conflicting factions of native Barabels began preparing to engage in a war with each other. Noga-ta manages to diffuse the tensions and broker a treaty between to the two factions. The Barabel people pass down stories of his peacekeeping from generation to generation. In addition, the Barabel people hold Jedi in very high regard.

Noga-ta also appears in the non-canon LEGO Star Wars franchise in Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles. In the episode “Escape from the Jedi Temple” he goes on a mission with Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi during the early stages of the Great Jedi Purge. The group is tasked with recovering holocrons from the Jedi Temple. Noga-ta goes by the nickname “Rusty”. Additionally, LEGO released a minifigure called “Ithorian Jedi Master” in the Yoda Chronicles-themed set Jedi Scout Fighter 75051.

5. Worror Dowmat and His Jedi Battle Meditation

Worror Dowmat is an Old Republic era Jedi Master. Although Dowmat is known to never carry or wield a lightsaber, the Ithorian Jedi Master is a proficient healer and extremely skilled in Jedi battle meditation. During battle, the valuable Force skill boosts the morale and vigor of allies and diminishes the resolve of opponents. Dowmat and his allies fight in the New Sith Wars against Lord Kaan’s Brotherhood of Darkness. He works alongside Lord Valenthyne Farfalla and later Lord Hoth.

After the New Sith War ends, Dowmat and a team of Jedi journey to Tython to follow a rumor that some Sith had survived the war. The group finds Darth Bane and Zannah and the Jedi and Sith engage in battle. During the skirmish Bane realizes that Dowmat is bolstering the power of his Jedi allies. Bane targets and mortally wounds Dowat. He then prepares to unleash Force lightning upon one of the other Jedi. As a dying gesture, Dowmat encases himself along with Bane inside a Force bubble causing the Force lighting to bounce around inside bubble. Badly burned by his own Force lightning and near death, Bane barely manages to survive.

6. Syr Tal-Soten and His Brush with the Dark Side

Syr Tal-Soten, an Ithorian male, ascends to the rank of Jedi Knight during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. He is stationed at the Jedi academy on Almas. In 31 BBY a group of terrorists attack Remembrance Hall, a museum operated by the Jedi that displays artifacts. Academy Headmaster Lanius Qel-Bertuk orders all Jedi to return to the Academy. When Wookiee Jedi Kirlocca and several others do not respond, Qel-Bertuk assembles a team of Jedi, including Tal-Soten, to search for missing individuals in the Almas Wastelands.

In the wastelands, the group becomes exposed to a strong surge of dark side energy. When the search party fails to return, Qel-Bertuk sends an additional search team to the wastelands. The team discovers that first search team had gone mad and become corrupted with the dark side. In their paranoia, Tal-Soten and the others in his group killed several of the individuals that they were searching for. Eventually, Tal-Soten and his group members are subdued and taken back to the Academy for evaluation and rehabilitation.

A Few More Minor Jedi and Force Sensitive Ithorians

Jedi Master Tobar Ka-Teen serves the Jedi Order and the Republic during the Clone Wars. He becomes fascinated in the Crown of Veracity. The relic detects lies and also forces the individual possessing the item to tell the truth. Bounty hunter Kallyx the Piner, an affiliate of the Black Sun Crime syndicate, captures Tobar Ka-Teen. When his captors torture him, Ka-Teen resorts to lying, something he thought he would not do. Eventually several Jedi rescue him

Jedi Master Saldith serves the Jedi Order and Galactic Republic during the Republic Classic era. He takes on a trains Sha Koon, niece of Jedi Master Plo Koon, as his Padawan.

Eozlin is a Force sensitive male Ithorian. He resides in the village Aurelia on the planet Dathomir around the time of the Galactic Civil War. He strives to locate resources to bolster Aurelia’s defenses following a Dark Jedi’s attack on the village. Eozlin appears in the defunct Star Wars Galaxies online game.

Chodo Habat is an Old Republic era male Ithorian Force Adept and respected spiritual leader. He also leads the Telosian Restoration Project, an ambitious initiate to restore the devastated and lifeless ecosystem of Telos IV. The planet had been orbitally bombed during one of the final battles of the Jedi Civil.

Ish’tay is a male Ithorian Force Adept and ecologist. A deeply spiritual individual, Ish’tay journeys to Caamas, a Core Worlds planet. An Imperial orbital bombardment of Caamas had devastated the planet and destroyed its ecosystem. Ish’tay arrives endeavoring to assess and explore an jungle in the southern hemisphere. After feeling a disturbing spiritual presence on the planet, Ish’tay teams up with several adventurers. The group ultimately discovers a massive Ithorian starship called an Ithorian Heardship buried in the forest.
