The Tholme lightsaber is a single-bladed green lightsaber wielded by Jedi Master Tholme in Star Wars Legends. Tholme is a Clone Wars era human male Jedi Master. He takes on Quinlan Vos as his first apprentice and later Aayla Secura as his second apprentice. During the Clone Wars, Tholme skillfully uses a spy network to gather intel on the Confederacy and dispatches Vos to infiltrate Dooku’s inner circle.

Tholme Lightsaber in Star Wars Legends

Tholme studies the ways of the Force under the guidance of the Jedi Order. He develops Jedi healing skills and completes his Jedi training. He takes an unorthodox path and trains in the art of the Anzati assassins. He develops proficiency in stealth and espionage and learns how to cloak his presence in the Force.

Serving as Jedi Watchman of Kiffu Sector, Training Quinlan Vos

The Jedi Council appoints Tholme to serve as a Jedi Watchman for the Kiffu sector. When he recognizes Quinlan Vos as a possible Jedi candidate, Vos is older than the average Jedi initiate. Tholme steps down as a Jedi Watchman. He provides some basic Jedi training to Quinlan Vos on Vos’ homeworld, Kiffu. Tholme ultimately takes Quinlan Vos to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and takes on Quinlan Vos officially as his first Padawan. Tholme and Vos fight in the Stark Hyperspace War.

Training Aayla Secura, Spying on the Confederacy

When Quinlan Vos ascends to the rank of Jedi Knight, Tholme takes on Aayla Secura as his next Padawan. Prior to the Clone Wars, Tholme and Vos create a spy network to inform the Jedi Order about the activities of the Confederacy. Although Tholme and Vos are unable to anticipate the Battle of Geonosis, the inaugural battle of the Clone Wars, Tholme anticipates the movements of Count Dooku.

Tholme and Jedi Master Sorq Bulq wait on Bakura to ambush Dooku. When Dooku arrives, he defeats the two Jedi Masters, leaving Tholme for dead. During the skirmish, Bulq secretly defects to the Confederacy, but helps a severely injured Tholme to safety.

Infiltrating Dooku’s Inner Circle Through Quinlan Vos

Using his spy network, Tholme plots to infiltrate Dooku’s group of Dark Acolytes, sending his former apprentice Quinlan Vos. Vos, a controversial choice in the eyes of the Jedi Council, gradually builds the trust of the Confederacy and enters Dooku’s inner circle. Ultimately Vos returns to the Republic with valuable intel, including mention of Sora Bulq making several trips to Anzat. Even Tholme begins to question Vos’ true allegiance following the deep undercover mission.

Tholme resolves to discover the reason behind Sora Bulq’s travels to Anzat. He goes on the mission to alongside Aayla Secura and her clone trooper unit. Information leads Tholme to Saleucami. Bulq appears and confronts Tholme. The two engage in a brief lightsaber duel before Tholme creates a diversion to escape.

Quinlan Vos, still deep uncover in the Confederacy, confronts Tholme, convinced that Sora Bulq is the second Sith Lord. Knowing Sora Bulq is a Dark Jedi and not the second Sith Lord, Tholme refuses to enact revenge against Bulq. Angered, Vos attacks Tholme and the two engage in a lightsaber duel until Vos holds his former master at saber point. Tholme fakes his own death, appearing to fall into a pool of lava.

Meanwhile, Dooku tests Quinlan Vos’ allegiance by commanding him to kill Khaleen Hentz, Vos’ lover. Vos refuses and declares his allegiance to the Republic and the Jedi. Tholme returns to hear the declaration. An enraged Sora Bulq attacks Tholme while the Dark Acolyte Tol Skorr duel Vos. Vos defeats and kills Skorr in time to rescue Tholme from a killing blow from Sora Bulq. Vos kills Bulq.

Escaping the Enactment of Order 66

During the enactment of Order 66 and the early stages of the Great Jedi Purge, Tholme and Jedi Master T’ra Saa are on Nar Shaddaa, a planet in Hutt Space, meeting up with Khaleen Hentz. The group are unaware of the enactment of Order 66 until they hear the Galactic Empire report the deaths of Jedi. The group eventually reunites with Quinlan Vos and go into hiding on the Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk. Tholme eventually passes away.

Behind the Scenes

The Tholme lightsaber first appears in the comic book story arc Star Wars: Republic: Darkness (2001). The Tholme lightsaber is only illustrated in Star Wars Legends content and has not been pictured in Star Wars Canon.
