Boba Fett Lightsaber in Star Wars Legends

Although Boba Fett’s primary weapon is a EE-3 carbine rifle, over the years he takes lightsabers of fallen Jedi as trophies. Even though Boba Fett is not Force sensitive, Fett wields a green-bladed lightsaber on at least one occasion.

Before the start of the Clone Wars, bounty hunter Jango Fett requests an unaltered clone of himself from the Kamino cloners. Jango Fett raises the boy, Boba Fett, as his own son with the help of the Kaminoan cloner Taun We. Boba Fett primarily grows up on Kamino.

At the beginning of the Clone Wars, Boba Fett witnesses Jedi Master Mace Windu killing his father on Geonosis. Boba Fett swears revenge on Windu and grows resentful of the Jedi Order and Jedi in general. Fett makes several unsuccessful attempts to kill Mace Windu. He becomes a full-fledged bounty hunter by age 13. During the Empire’s rise to power, Boba Fett’s reputation as a bounty hunter grows. He eventually develops the reputation as one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy.

Bounty Hunter

As a bounty hunter, Boba Fett works with Darth Vader on many occasions, among others. In 1 ABY, Grand Moff Tarkin hires Boba Fett to bring him Han Solo, a deserter of the Imperial Navy. Vader pursues Solo as well. Fett locates Solo in a cantina and sets a stasis-field as a trap for Solo. Darth Vader arrives appearing intent on taking Solo by force.

Not wanting to lose his bounty on Solo, Fett engages Vader in battle. Vader ignites his lightsaber. Just as the Sith Lord is about to strike Boba Fett down, the bounty hunter extends a green-bladed lightsaber of his own. “You are not worthy to even hold such a blade!” Darth Vader tells Boba Fett.

The two engage in a furious lightsaber duel. Vader pushes Fett back more and more until Fett is pinned against a wall. Vader disarms Fett. The lightsaber crashes into the stasis field, freeing Han Solo. Solo runs. Vader takes possession of the Boba Fett lightsaber and Han Solo escapes. Boba Fett later helps capture Solo on Bespin and turns the fugitive over to Jabba the Hutt.

Boba Fett Trains Jaina Solo

“Fett, you can teach me to bring down Jedi. You’ve done it often enough.” — Jaina Solo to Boba Fett in Star Wars Legacy of the Force: Revelation (2008)

Many years later during the Legacy era, Jaina Solo, daughter on Han Solo, seeks out Boba Fett as a teacher. Her twin brother Jacen Solo had turned to the dark side and taken the name Darth Caedus and she wanted to learn how to defeat him. Fett takes her on as a student and briefly engages her in lightsaber combat. During her studies, Solo learns about the Mandalorian culture as well as Boba Fett’s personal history. Jaina Solo later successfully defeats and kills Darth Caedus in lightsaber combat.
