Ur-Sema Du Lightsaber in Star Wars Legends
The Ur-Sema Du lightsaber, a Jedi lightsaber, is comprised of a cylindrical mostly metallic silver hilt with some black and copper colored accents. The lightsaber, a thin neck saber, features a flared emitter. The single-bladed lightsaber emits a green blade.
Ur-Sema Du serves the Jedi Order and the Republic during the Clone Wars era. She serves on Mace Windu’s Jedi assault team tasked with rescuing the imprisoned Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Senator Amidala on the planet Geonosis. Du encounters General Grievous in the catacombs of the Geonosis area. She wields her lightsaber against Grievous, who is equipped with an electrostaff. Grievous ultimately overpowers the Jedi Master, killing her and taking her lightsaber as a trophy. The Ur-Sema Du lightsaber joins the General Grievous lightsaber collection.
Behind the Scenes
Artist Joe Corroney creates the character Ur-Sema Du, naming the character and modeling the likeness of the character after fellow artist Jan Duursema. The character and the lightsaber first appear in Star Wars Legends in the Star Wars Insider 86 magazine article “Unknown Soldier: The Story of General Grievous” (2006).
