The Saberbay x Laredo Sabers Dark Matter Lightsaber has been unveiled. The custom saber is inspired by the SWTOR Darth Vindican Saberstaff (aka Vindicator’s Saberstaff). Dark Matter, a limited run, is available as an empty hilt kit for DIY or display. The hilt kit became available for pre-order from Saberbay in late July 2022 with an estimated shipping time in fall or winter 2022.

Dark Matter is a hilt constructed from aluminum parts. The standard finish features black anodization color accents for the emitter and control box along with stainless steel rods for the inner core support. Saber includes two sets of shrouds with a polished aluminum finish enabling the buyer to customize the shroud color as they see fit (the purple in-game color scheme is depicted in some photos).
The two blade holders on each end accept a 1 inch diameter blade (not included). Interior hilt features room for electronics on both ends. Each of the two control boxes also feature two spring loaded actuators. Hilt also features smoke resin greeblies with emitter shine-through effect and smoke resin vent covers on each emitter body. The middle of the hilt–the main grip section–is made from a 1 inch diameter thick-walled black stock. The grip section is capable of housing accent LED lighting in the chassis design and grip illumination.
Jimmy’s Saber Junk is designing the chassis for the Dark Matter hilt. Each end of the hilt uses a static chassis for easy soundboard and battery access. More details to come. Hilt kit comes with a custom collectors box designed by Christian Cruz and custom foam holders designed by Sam Stephenson from Shadowfoil Props. Gustavo Canales of Laredo Sabers designed the Dark Matter hilt kit. Hilt kit is a collaboration between Saberbay and Laredo Sabers.
