Since Closeout section lightsaber hilts are discontinued designs, the hilt could sell out at any time. The Closeout lightsabers are only available on Saberforge.com and not in the Sabeforge Etsy store.

Saberforge founder Philip Isherwood stated in a Facebook post, “From now on every time we come out with a new design, we will have to discontinue an existing design to make space.”

The Closeout section is a nice deal for those interested in purchasing empty hilts in particular because the empty hilt price is discounted up to 50%. The buyer may add electronics, however, the installation upgrade prices are NOT discounted.

For example, the Saberforge Justicar lightsaber hilt itself is discounted to $74.50 (regularly $149). Upgrading the hilt to include electronics would cost the standard Saberforge rates: Warrior (+$99), Veteran (+$184), Champion (+$249), Hero (+$449). So a Saberforge Justicar empty hilt enjoys an overall discount of 50% off for a total of $74.50 (regularly $149). Adding a Warrior tier upgrade increase the price by $99 for a total of $173.50 (regularly $248), giving the Warrior tier lightsaber an overall discount of 30% off the regular price.

Getting a 50% discount on a Saberforge empty hilt is one of the best discounts offered by Saberforge. Typical Saberforge sitewide sales range between around 12% to 20% off regular price.

This is not the first time Saberforge has discounted hilts by 50%. In June 2018, Saberforge held a 50% off sale to clear out a batch of discontinued hilt designs. Although the company has held a closeout sale before, this company seems to be making the Closeout section a permanent, ongoing fixture on the Saberforge website.

Consider that although Saberforge may be discontinuing older or less popular designs, there’s always the possibility that the company could resurrect a lightsaber hilt design in the future. In September 2019, Saberforge brought back the Desert Warrior lightsaber hilt, featuring some tweaks to the design and features. Desert Warrior had originally been discontinued in 2011. You certainly can’t assume that any of the discontinued designed will return, though. Even if the design does return eventually, you may have to wait several years.
