Depa Billaba Lightsaber in Star Wars Canon
The Depa Billaba lightsaber is comprised of a cylindrical metal hilt. The design features a slanted emitter and tsuba (handguard). Jedi Master Depa Billaba, a skilled lightsaber duelist, demonstrates mastery of Form III and Form VII of lightsaber combat.
In her early years, Depa Billaba is apprenticed to Jedi Master Mace Windu. She rises to the rank of Jedi Master and serves on the Jedi Council alongside her former master during the early years of the Clone Wars. Billaba takes Caleb Dume as an apprentice. She trains him in lightsaber combat and in the ways of the Force.
During the final days of the Clone Wars, Depa Billaba, Caleb Dume and a battalion of clone troopers fight against the Droid Army on the planet Kaller. The Jedi wield their lightsabers against the droids. Following the enactment of Order 66, the clone troopers turn on the Jedi and attack them. Billaba tells Dume to run and sacrifices herself so that her Padawan may escape. Caleb Dume escapes and survives. He goes into hiding and takes on the new name Kanan Jarrus.
Depa Billaba Lightsaber in Star Wars Legends
In Star Wars Legends, the Depa Billaba lightsaber emits a scarlet blade. Aside from Mace Windu, Depa Billaba is only Jedi to master Form VII of lightsaber combat. She demonstrates proficiency in Jar’Kai, a method of dual blade lightsaber combat, as well.
Depa Billaba serves as a Jedi General during the Clone Wars. Early in the Clone Wars, she accepts mission to her homeworld, Haruun Kal, to stop Separatist activity. Billaba witnesses wartime atrocities during her time on the planet and suffers recurring headaches and nightmares.
After Jedi Council member Mace Windu hears a disturbing holomessage from Billaba, Mace Windu becomes concerned about his former apprentice’s sanity. Windu leaves Coruscant to rescue Billaba. He finds her lightsaber in the streets of a city on Haruun Kal. Depa Billaba later finds Windu and the two reconnect. After talking with her awhile, he removes her from the Jedi Council and places her under arrest for crimes against civilization. As Windu and Billaba leave, they fall under attack and wield their lightsabers side by side against the attackers. She later duels him, screamingly wildly.
Billaba, who is injured in mind, body and spirit, slips into a coma and is brought back to the Jedi Temple for recovery. If she were ever to awaken, Billaba would be tried for crimes against civilization. Her fate is unknown.

The Depa Billaba lightsaber first appears in Star Wars Canon in the comic book Star Wars Kanan 1 (2015). The lightsaber emits a green blade in Star Wars Canon and a scarlet blade in Star Wars Legends.
