Jaro Tapal Lightsaber in Star Wars Canon

The Jaro Tapal double-bladed lightsaber is comprised of a cylindrical metal hilt. The Jedi lightsaber, which features dual emitter shrouds on either end, is mostly metallic silver in color with a black grip section in the middle. The lightsaber emits two blue blades (as a double-bladed lightsaber) and later only one blue blade (as a broken lightsaber).

Jedi Master Jaro Tapal serves as a Jedi General during the Clone Wars, commanding the 13th Battalion. During the final days of the Clone Wars, Tapal and his apprentice Cal Kestis are onboard the Venator-class Star Destroyer Albedo Bravo along with the 13th Battalion clone troopers. As the Sith Lord Darth Sidious enacts Order 66, Tapal senses danger. Tapal ignites his double-bladed lightsaber and strikes down the adjacent clone commander.

Tapal and Kestis flee, seeking to evacuate the ship with an escape pod. Taking separate routes, Tapal and Kestis reunite at the escape pods. Approaching clone troopers strike Jaro Tapal multiple times with blaster fire. The blaster fire damages the lightsaber, bisecting the hilt in the middle. Tapal and Kestis narrowly escape together in a pod. Tapal, weakened from his blaster wounds, gives his broken lightsaber to Kestis. “Remember,” Tapal says. “trust only in the Force.” The Jedi Master dies.

Cal Kestis Wields the Broken Lightsaber
Cal Kestis keeps the Jaro Tapal for the five years he living in hiding on the planet Bracca. After brief lightsaber skirmish with Second Sister, a Jedi-hunting Inquisitor, Kestis joins the crew of the Stinger Mantis. Kestis continues to wield the lightsaber until it is further damaged on the planet Dathomir. Kestis salvages the weapon and integrates parts from the lightsaber into his new lightsaber. He constructs the new lightsaber on the planet Illum.
