Sinya is female Twi’lek who works as a bodyguard for the Black Sun crime syndicate in Star Wars Legends. Sinya is one of the rare non-Force sensitive individuals to wield lightsabers. She wields the lightsabers against the Sith Lord Darth Maul.

The Sinya Guard Shoto Lightsabers in Star Wars Legends
Sinya guard shoto lightsabers are a set of two single-hilt lightsabers equipped with a perpendicular grip. Each guard shoto lightsabers, sometimes referred to as lightsaber tonfa or lightsaber baton, emits a shorter-than-standard deep purple blade.
Sinya is one of the rare non-Force sensitive individuals to wield lightsabers. An arrogant and not easily impressed individual, Sinya works as a bodyguard for the Black Sun crime syndicate. She is charged with protecting Darnada, a high ranking Black Sun leader.
When Darth Maul enters Darnada’s space station asking to join the crime syndicate, Sinya is not impressed, saying Maul is “nothing special”. He kills many people in the room. A lightsaber duel ensues between Darth Maul and Sinya. He is equipped with his red-bladed saberstaff and she is equipped with her purple bladed guard shoto lightsabers. Maul quickly overpowers and kills her before killing Darnada as well.
Behind the Scenes
The Sinya guard shoto lightsabers first appear in the comic book Darth Maul #2 (2000). Sinya is one of the few non-Force sensitive individuals in Star Wars Canon or Legends to wield lightsabers. The usage of guard shoto lightsabers is rare as well. The Star Wars Legends character Maris Brood is the only other individual known to wield guard shoto lightsabers.
