Oppo Rancisis Lightsaber in Star Wars Canon
The Oppos Rancisis lightsaber is single-bladed Jedi lightsaber that emits a green blade. Although the lightsaber is not depicted in Star Wars Canon, a curved-hilt design was developed for use in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars prior to the series’ abrupt cancellation in 2014.
A powerful Jedi Master, Oppo Rancisis is one of the oldest and wisest members of the Jedi Council during the Clone Wars era. The Jedi Master is present during many critical council meetings during the Clone Wars and serves as a Jedi General during the war. Although Rancisis is proficient in lightsaber combat, the Jedi Master generally prefers using other Force abilities in battle.
Rancisis serves as a general during the Siege of Seleucami shorty before the enactment of Order 66. Rancisis manages to survive Order 66 and evade the Great Jedi Purge. His name is on a list of Jedi survivors known to the Jedi-hunting Inquisitors.
Oppo Rancisis Lightsaber in Star Wars Legends
Rancisis is depicted wielding a green-bladed lightsaber in some comic books in Star Wars Legends.
Oppo Racisis commands Republic forces during the Siege of Seleucami, one of the final battles between the Republic and thousands of clones trained by Anzati assassins to serve the Confederacy. Oppo Rancisis asks Jedi Master Quinlan Vos serve as second in command. Rancisis uses battle meditation, a powerful Force ability that boosts morale and efficiency, while he commands Republic forces.
Jedi Master Sora Bulq, a secret agent of Count Dooku, dispatches Anzati assassins to kill Oppo Rancisis. Racisis wields his lightsaber and defeats the would-be assassins. Following the skirmish, Bulq uses his lightsaber to stab Oppo Rancisis from behind, killing the Jedi Master. The Republic ultimately destroys the clone facilities on the planet.
Behind the Scenes
The creators of Star Wars: The Clone Wars develop and model concept art for a curved-hilt Oppo Rancisis lightsaber prior to the cancellation of the Clone Wars animated series. The lightsaber is inspired by the design of the curved-hilt Count Dooku lightsaber.
The Oppo Rancisis lightsaber features a distinctive, curved hand guard situated opposite to the hilt. Lucasfilm reveals the concept art during The Untold Clone Wars panel at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim (2015).
