Darth Bandon Lightsaber Construction and History

Darth Bandon, a ruthless and arrogant Old Republic era Sith Lord, wields a red double-bladed lightsaber. He serves as Sith Apprentice and Shadow Hand to Darth Malak. He constructs the saberstaff after joining the Sith Empire. The Darth Bandon double-bladed lightsaber, which is equipped with a red kyber crystal, somewhat resembles the Exar Kun lightsaber.

In his early years, the man who would become Darth Bandon trains as Jedi Padawan. Overcome with powerful emotions, he never truly accepts the Jedi Code. During the Jedi Civil War he defects to the Sith Empire, trains at the Sith Academy on Korriban, and embraces the Sith Code immediately. He adopts the name Darth Bandon. Bandon serves as the apprentice and Shadow Hand (i.e. second-in-command) of Darth Malak.

Bandon develops a proficiency in wielding both single and double-bladed lightsabers. He duels and kills many Jedi. Bandon utilizes additional dark side Force powers to complement his lightsaber skills. His dark side Force powers include: Force lightning, manipulating and instilling fear in an opponent, draining an enemy’s life force, and the ability to create a swirling vortex of Force energy.

Darth Malak commands Darth Bandon to search for Revan and the Jedi Knight Bastila Shan, requesting that the Shadow Hand captures Bastila Shan alive, if possible. Bandon, along with two Dark Jedi, locate and confront Revan and his allies on Hrakert Station. Bandon arrogantly underestimates Revan’s skill. During the ensuing lightsaber combat, Revan and his allies defeat Darth Bandon. A group of Sith acolytes recover Bandon’s remains, preserve the Sith Lord’s head using Sith alchemy, and attempt to reattach the head to a new body. Over the years, the head passes through multiple owners.

The double-bladed Darth Bandon lightsaber is acquired by the resurgent Sith Empire as some point after Bandon’s death. A Force-sensitive agent makes the lightsaber available for purchase.
