The lightsaber immersion blender is NOT a toy, but rather the device is a functional, lightsaber-themed immersion blender (also known as a stick blender or hand blender) that you can use to grind or purée food in a bowl or other container. If you or a friend or family member is a Star Wars fan AND a smoothie or soup fan, then the Star Wars Immersion Blender may be a good gift idea.

Uncanny Brands makes two lightsaber blender styles: a Star Wars Darth Vader Lightsaber Immersion Blender and a Star Wars Anakin Skywalker Immersion Blender. The handles of the immersion blenders are decorated to somewhat visually resemble the lightsabers in the movies, although the design is far from screen accurate. The blenders do look ‘lightsabery’ enough for the average person.
The lightsaber immersion blender consists of two main parts: the blender body and the detachable shaft with the blender blade at the end. The blender body is made of plastic with an added chrome coloring to make it look metal. A series of rubber vertical grips encircle the bottom part of the handle, making the blender easier to grip and making the blender body look more like a lightsaber. The on/off switch is a large, circular button near the emitter section of the hilt. The device is a variable speed blender. You control the speed by turning the base of the blender (left is slower and right is faster).
The detachable shaft is made of stainless steel, and colored red for the Darth Vader lightsaber blender and blue for the Anakin Skywalker lightsaber blender. The shaft attaches and detaches easily. To attach the shaft to the blender, simply screw the piece into the blender until it clicks. In order to detach the shaft for cleaning and storage, simply unscrew and remove the piece from the blender.
Overall, the lightsaber blender is a pretty cool ‘geek chic’ device. I’ve used the blender to mix a few things, including potatoes, and the blender functions comfortably and as expected.
