Disney Unveils Stellan Gios Legacy Lightsaber | New Saber Alert

All of the legacy lightsabers come with the hilt and the outer hard-shell plastic box. All other accessories, including a lightsaber blade, must be purchased separately. The lightsaber blade is available for purchase from Dok-Ondar’s Den. Also, since Savi’s Workshop lightsaber and legacy lightsabers use the same type of blade, a lightsaber enthusiast can attach a blade from their Savi’s Workshop lightsaber to their legacy lightsaber. Custom lightsaber blades from Ultrasabers, Saberforge, Vader’s Vault, etc. are NOT compatible with legacy lightsabers or Savi’s Workshop lightsabers.

The gray box is dual-purpose and can be used to store and display the hilt. All of the legacy lightsabers come in the same style box. Each box features a brightly colored logo or chevron that matches the character. The background color of the chevron corresponds to the blade color of the lightsaber hilt. Since Asajj Ventress uses a red-bladed lightsaber, the background color of the chevron is red as well. Pressing and holding the chevron allows the user to unlatch the lid of the box in order to access the lightsaber hilt.

The bottom of the Asajj Ventress legacy lightsaber hilt box features the title, battery instructions, and price.

In order to maintain an “in-universe” vibe, the box doesn’t feature much box art or writing on the top. The only writing on the top states the age recommendation of 8+. All of the other writing, including product title, battery instructions and product price are listed out of the way on the bottom of the box.

The hilt itself is primarily a dark gunmetal gray color with black accents. The curved-hilt lightsaber has a flattened cylindrical shape. The emitter section features a small claw that curves out of the hilt and a black plastic section that wraps around half of the emitter. The emitter section also features a vertical red activation switch, which slides up to turn on the lightsaber when a blade is inserted into the blade socket.

The body of the hilt features a sinister ‘candy cane’ like grip section, alternating between gunmetal gray and a black material with a rubbery texture. A rounded gunmetal gray vein runs up the grip section from the pommel (end cap) up to the emitter section.

A plastic Covertec wheel attaches to the hilt below the grip section. The Covertec wheel on the Asajj Ventress legacy lightsaber is compatible with the Lightsaber Belt Clip sold at Galaxy’s Edge, but the Covertec wheel to too thick to work with many custom Covertec belt clips.

The vented pommel on the Asajj Ventress legacy lightsaber attaches to the rest of the hilt with two large set screws, one on each side of the hilt. If you need to access the battery pack or need to swap the pommel out for a coupler, you just need to remove both of the set screws.

Speaking of couplers, the Asajj Ventress legacy lightsaber comes with a coupler. The coupler allows lightsaber enthusiasts to connect two Asajj Ventress legacy lightsabers together to form a double-bladed saberstaff. The coupler is hidden in the box, beneath the black fabric and molded-plastic interior.

Now that we’ve examined the box and the hilt, it’s time to attach a blade to hilt. The legacy lightsaber blade has two metal sections, one on each side. The smaller metal section and larger metal section must line up with the proper slots in the blade holder section of the hilt. The lightsaber makes a sound when the blade is attached to the hilt, indicating the hilt has registered the blade. Gently twist the blade to lock the blade in place.

Now that the blade is attached, the lightsaber can be activated by sliding the vertical red switch up. A red lightsaber blade springs to life with an activation sound.  The lightsaber makes various hum and clash sounds. The lightsaber uses the Flash on Clash effect (the blade flashes yellow briefly upon impact). Legacy lightsabers each use a distinctive sound font, or collection of lightsaber sounds.

The Asajj Ventress legacy lightsaber is available exclusively from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, a store inside Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Disney World.
