What is a Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge kyber crystal?
A Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge kyber crystal is small, crystal-shaped piece of plastic equipped with RFID technology. Kyber crystals come in one of 7 different colors: red, blue, green, purple, yellow, white, and black. The black kyber crystal is the rarest type of kyber crystal. Black kyber crystals randomly inserted into tubes marked as red kyber crystals.
Although the kyber crystal may be collected on its own, the kyber crystal is more commonly acquired for use with compatible products like the holocrons and Sith wayfinders from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities and the hand-built lightsabers from Savi’s Workshop.
What’s the function of a Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge kyber crystal?
Kyber crystals interact with Savi’s Workshop lightsabers and with holocrons and Sith wayfinders from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. The kyber crystal is installed in the chassis of a Savi’s Workshop lightsaber in order to ‘unlock’ a matching lightsaber blade color. For example, a red kyber crystal unlocks a red lightsaber blade and a blue kyber crystal unlocks a blue lightsaber blade. The only exception is the rare black kyber crystal, which unlocks a red blade and NOT a black lightsaber blade.
The kyber crystal also interacts with holocrons and Sith wayfinders from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. When paired with a holocron, the crystal unlocks the voice of Star Wars characters. Each kyber crystal unlocks two Star Wars characters: one light side character when the crystal is installed in a Jedi Holocron and one dark side character when the crystal is installed in a Sith Holocron. Although there are only 7 kyber crystal colors, most kyber crystal colors have at least 2 variations with different voices. You would need to collect 15 kyber crystals total in order to collect all combinations of the different character voices.
When paired with a Sith wayfinder, a kyber crystal unlocks a series of facts about a particular planet.

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, a store at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, is the only store that officially sells Galaxy’s Edge kyber crystals. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities sells: red, blue, green, purple, yellow and white kyber crystals. The rare black kyber crystal is randomly inserted in a small percentage of the red kyber crystal tubes. Several Disney park goers sell second hand kyber crystals on eBay and in other second hand markets like Facebook.
Each Savi’s Workshop lightsaber includes one kyber crystal. Only four kyber crystal colors are available during the Savi’s Workshop experience: red, blue, green or purple. A park goer could purchase additional kyber crystals from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.
