Legacy Lightsaber and Savi’s Workshop Lightsaber BLADE COMPATIBILITY (Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge)

Where can you find or buy a compatible lightsaber blade for a Savi’s Workshop lightsaber or for a legacy lightsaber from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities? Both Savi’s Workshop lightsabers and legacy lightsabers are exclusively available from Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, the new Star Wars land at Disneyland and Disney World. The blades are available second hand, however.

Both Savi’s Workshop lightsabers and legacy lightsabers use the same type of lightsaber blade, which is part of a universal blade system developed by Disney. The blade features a black section at the bottom that slides into the emitter section of the lightsaber hilt. The black section has two metal pieces on either side: one smaller metal section and one larger metal section. The metal sections line up with slots in the emitter section of the hilt. After sliding the blade into the hilt, just give the blade a small twist in order to secure and ‘lock’ the blade inside the hilt.

The only official place to purchase a replacement blade for a Savi’s Workshop lightsaber or a legacy lightsaber is from Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at the Disney Parks. Replacement lightsaber blades are not currently available from the online Disney shop, however some third party sellers on eBay and elsewhere are offering blades for Savi’s Workshop lightsabers and legacy lightsabers.

If you are purchasing a replacement lightsaber blade, make sure the blade has the black section at the bottom. Also make sure that the black section has both metal pieces on the side that line up with the inside of a hilt emitter.

Blades from the older Disney Parks exclusive lightsabers are NOT compatible with Savi’s Workshop lightsabers or legacy lightsabers. Before the opening of Star Wars

Galaxy’s Edge, Disney has previously released a series of three higher-end Disney Parks exclusive lightsabers with removable blades called: Rey Lightsaber, Kylo Ren Lightsaber, and Darth Vader Lightsaber. These three older Disney Parks exclusive lightsabers predate the opening of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.

Although the three Disney Parks exclusive lightsabers use a very similar design to the newer Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge lightsabers, the blades are NOT compatible and WILL NOT work with the newer lightsabers.

Custom lightsaber blades are also NOT compatible with Savi’s Workshop lightsabers or legacy lightsabers. If you buy a blade from Ultrasabers, Saberforge, Vader’s Vault, Sabertrio, or any other custom saber maker, the blade will look like an open tube on the end and will be missing the necessary hardware on a Savi’s Workshop or legacy lightsaber blade in order for the blade to fit the hilt and to activate. Neopixel lightsaber blades, by any custom saber company, are NOT compatible with Savi’s Workshop lightsabers or legacy lightsabers as well.

Some people will likely eventually do a Savi’s Workshop conversion or a legacy lightsaber conversion. A sabersmith could attempt to take on a conversion as a custom project. A conversion would transform a Savi’s Workshop lightsaber or a legacy lightsaber into a duel worthy lightsaber (neither a Savi’s Workshop lightsaber or a legacy lightsaber is currently duel worthy) by changing the electronics. A converted lightsaber would be able to accommodate a custom lightsaber blade.

Right of the box, a Savi’s Workshop lightsaber or a legacy lightsaber could NOT use a custom lightsaber blade or custom neopixel lightsaber blade.
