Are Star Wars: The Black Series Force FX lightsaber for kids? In an official capacity, no, Force FX lightsabers are NOT for kids. The box specifically refers to the lightsabers as ‘Adult Collectibles’ and does not provide a recommended age rage. Unofficially, though, many kids probably do own the lightsabers anyway.

There are many reasons why Force FX lightsabers may not be appropriate for kids. The hilts on Star Wars: The Black Series Force FX lightsabers are made out of metal and can be a bit heavy. The use of metal in the hilt makes them a bit more dangerous for kids. The blade length is also a bit long for some kids (the blade is over 30 inches long).
Each lightsaber hilt also has other non-kid friendly quirks as well. The Kylo Ren Force FX lightsaber is very heavy so it would hard for some kids to lift, let alone wield the Kylo Ren lightsaber. The Kylo Ren lightsaber hilt is also wide in diameter than many other Force FX lightsaber hilts, which is harder for kids to hold onto. Some other Force FX lightsabers have pieces that stick out of the hilt that could be hazardous to a child, like the bunny ears on the Rey (Jedi Training) lightsaber.
Even though Force FX lightsabers are not directly marketed to kids, many children around the country and world probably own Force FX lightsabers or have access to their parents Force FX lightsaber collections.
Hasbro likely doesn’t call Force FX lightsabers toys or officially market them to kids directly for several reasons. First, Hasbro probably wants to avoid lawsuits from kids using them since some of the lightsabers are made of metal, some have parts that stick out, and some are heavy. Also, with a price points ranging from $100-$200+, Star Wars Force FX lightsabers are much more expensive than most kids toys.
