Hasbro announced a new addition to the Star Wars The Black Series FX line and it’s going to be a Riot Trooper Baton [AMAZON AFFILIATE LINK]. There are currently 7 lightsabers in the Star Wars: The Black Series Force FX product line. The Riot Trooper Baton will become the first non-lightsaber in the Star Wars The Black Series: Force FX line and the first new Force FX product since the release of the Rey (Jedi Training) Force FX lightsaber.

The Riot Trooper Baton will be spring-loaded, motion activated, and feature light effects, just like the existing Force FX lightsabers. Although the Riot Trooper Baton is NOT a lightsaber, the weapon relates to lightsabers quite well. Within the Star Wars series, the Riot Trooper Baton is depicted as a lightsaber resistant melee weapon. Finn wields what becomes Rey’s lightsaber against an angry, Riot Trooper Baton swinging FN-2199 in The Force Awakens. Then in The Last Jedi, Finn arms himself with a Riot Trooper Baton when he fights Captain Phasma.
The Force FX Riot Trooper Baton is not the first Riot Trooper Baton product manufactured by Hasbro. The popular Hasbro Bladebuilders toy line, comprised mainly of lightsaber toys, includes a Riot Trooper Baton as well.
The Force FX Riot Trooper Baton is slated for release in Fall 2018 and is available for pre-order from major retailers. The retail price is $199.99.
