The Pach Store (Hong Kong)
Pach Store sells many affordable, budget friendly lightsabers. The cheapest lightsaber they sell is the popular Tiny Giant Kyojin (same lightsaber as Saberforge’s Youngling Saber), a small, inexpensive sound saber currently priced at $59. The Pach Store also carries Wonder Force Fubuki and Wonder Force Hitoren V3 for under $100 and Wonder Force Hitoren V4 RGB for $159. The Pach Store offers a wide selection of feature-rich lightsabers for under $200. Additionally, The Pach Store typically ships order quickly–within a week or so (unless stated otherwise).

Kyberlight (United States)
Kyberlight sells an RGB sound saber for around $200. Kyberlight approaches lightsaber design in a very different way from most other saber companies. Kyberlight only manufactures one hilt style, and the user changes the appearance of the hilt by mixing and matching various top pieces (emitter pieces), sleeves, and pommels. Additionally, the RGB lightsaber offers 20 color options. Some people in the saber community don’t like the Kyberlight soundboard or some of the accessories, nevertheless, Kyberlight remains one of most versatile entry level lightsabers on the market.

Saberforge [Etsy AFFILIATE LINK] (United States)
Founded in 2008, Saberforge is one of the largest and most established custom saber companies. Saberforge offers one of the largest selections of lightsabers, including many (unofficially) movie inspired hilts. The company also offers extensive customizing options.

The cheapest lightsaber Saberforge sells is the Youngling Saber (the same lightsaber as The Pach Store’s Tiny Giant Kyojin). Most of Saberforge’s other standard lightsabers start at $175 for a stunt saber (no sound) or $260 for a sound saber.

A downside to purchasing from Saberforge is their slow handling speed (Saberforge currently lists a lead time of 4-8 weeks, but this varies). Buyers also report instances of their orders incurring additional delays of weeks to months. The Saberforge Etsy store sometimes ships lightsabers a bit faster than the Saberforge website.

Ultrasabers (United States)
Ultrasabers is another large and established custom saber company offering a wide variety of hilt styles along with some (unofficially) movie inspired designs. Ultrasabers sells a variety of stunt sabers (no sound) for under $100 and many sound sabers for under $200. Some popular sellers from Ultrasabers include their Mystery Box Sabers and Grab Bag Sabers, where the buyer does not know which hilt style they will receive. A benefit of Mystery Box Sabers and Grab Bag Sabers is the simplified buying process, although a drawback is a buyer could receive a saber that they don’t like.

Ultrasabers is currently one of the most budget friendly custom saber manufactures, especially for United States buyers. Ultrasabers typically ships orders within a few days (unless otherwise stated).

Sabertrio [Etsy AFFILIATE LINK] (Malaysia)
Sabertrio, a relative newcomer to the custom saber market, balances quality and price with their lightsabers and has developed a loyal following in a few short years. Sabertrio only offers a handful of lightsaber hilt style at the moment, none of which are movie inspired, but the company is growing and releasing new hilt style along the way. Sabertrio stunt sabers (no sound) sell for under $150 and their FX sabers (RGB sound sabers) sell for under $300.

Electrum Sabercrafts (Canada)
Electrum Sabercrafts, another relative newcomer to the custom saber market, sells smart sabers (i.e. sabers you can customize and control with your smartphone) ranging in price from around $300-$400. The sabers are feature loaded RGB sabers with multiple sound font options and app-based customization options. Electrum Sabercrafts hilt styles are limited and none are movie inspired, but Electrum Sabercrafts lightsabers remain a popular and cutting edge option.

Star Wars: The Black Series Force FX Lightsabers
Hasbro manufactures the Star Wars: The Black Series Force FX lightsabers, which are the only officially licensed lightsabers on the list. Many people will purchase a Force FX lightsaber as a first lightsaber because they are officially licensed and use movie inspired designs. Force FX lightsabers are NOT duel worthy, unless you do a Force FX conversion.

Black Series Force FX lightsabers are sold by various stores and range in price from $100-$200 (out of production lightsabers cost more).

Amazon carries many Star Wars Black Series Force FX lightsabers (prices fluctuate) [AFFILIATE LINKS]:
Star Wars: The Last Jedi The Black Series Rey (Jedi Training) Force FX Lightsaber
Star Wars The Black Series Kylo Ren Force FX Deluxe Lightsaber
Star Wars: The Black Series Luke Skywalker Force FX Lightsaber

Alternate Option: You could try purchasing a first lightsaber used
Lightsabers from various custom saber manufacturers do turn up on eBay [AFFILIATE LINK] from time to time, but the selection is limited and the condition of the lightsabers varies. Look for listings with thorough descriptions, multiple pictures and be sure to read through the seller’s feedback. You could also try buying a used lightsaber from saber communities or forums like The Vault: A Custom Lightsaber Community.

Whether you’re purchasing your first lightsaber new from a custom saber manufacturer or used on a platform like eBay, investigate the seller’s reputation. Consider both the good and bad experiences of previous customers.
