The Evolution Arms Dark Apprentice lightsaber has been unveiled. The custom saber, an original design, is a low profile, entry level saber. Evolution Arms Dark Apprentice is available as installed sound saber equipped with a Plecter Labs Crystal Shard soundboard with in-hilt LED or neopixel configuration. Released in 2017, Dark Apprentice appears to be out of production as of December 2020.

The Evolution Arms Dark Apprentice lightsaber hilt is a machined aluminum that measures just under 10.75 inches long with an outside diameter (OD) of about 1.375 inches with a slightly slimmer grip section. A chassis system helps protect the saber internals.
Evolution Arms offers Dark Apprentice in three color schemes: Plain (standard metallic silver finish), Lightside (silver with black accents), or Darkside (black with silver accents). The hilt is suitable for either a one-handed grip style or two-handed grip style. The lightsaber accepts a 1 inch diameter blade, which is included.
A series of stadium-shaped vertical windows encircle the emitter section of the hilt. Three series’ of three thin horizontal groove wrap around the activation switch area. A slightly recessed AV switch serves at the activation switch (illuminated or non-illuminated switch options). The hilt diameter narrows in the fluted lower grip section. Both the grip section and the windows in the emitter echo the same aesthetic and resemble the iconic Death Star corridor pattern. A tapered pommel, which features sound holes, caps off the end of the hilt.
