Shadowfoil Props The Unshielded Lightsaber as been unveiled. The custom saber, a limited run of 50 units, is inspired by concept art for the ‘Cyborg Jedi’ Arn Peralun lightsaber in the SWTOR. The ambitiously complex, high-end design boasts an exposed brass crystal chamber, an exposed grip section, and machined walnut sleeve. Shadowfoil Props began accepting pre-orders for The Unshielded lightsaber in late February 2023. Saber is available as an empty hilt for DIY or as a installed, Proffieboard-equipped pixel saber. The run is produced in collaboration with Phoenix Props.

The Unshielded lightsaber utilizes a stainless steel core as a foundation with brass and aluminum hilt accent parts and a CNC machined walnut sleeve. Hilt measures 335 mm long (excluding the top of the emitter shroud) and has outside diameter (OD) of 35 mm in the grip section. The blade holder accepts a 1 inch diameter blade. An exposed brass crystal chamber is situated high on the hilt below the regal brass accent parts near the emitter. Hilt uses a single button activation switch in the middle of the hilt. The walnut sleeve extends around the exposed grip section in the lower part of the hilt just above the vented pommel. A ring attaches to the lower part of the hilt. Exposed red wiring, in the tradition of the Kylo Ren lightsaber, adorns the hilt near activation switch and in the exposed grip section.
The hilt run is limited to 50 units. Shadowfoil Props offers The Unshielded lightsaber as an empty hilt for DIY. The company also offers an installed version. The installed version, a pixel saber configuration, uses a SLS/MJF nylon chassis and comes equipped with a Proffieboard soundboard, 18650 li-ion battery, and 28 mm bass speaker. Saber uses single switch activation and may illuminate both crystal chambers.
On the pre-order page, Shadowfoil Props characterizes The Unshielded lightsaber as “one of our most complex projects yet”.
