ALL of the Rodian Jedi and One Sith (Greedo Jedi?)

Many casual Star Wars fans may most commonly envision Greedo when they think of the Rodian species. Nevertheless, there are quite a few Force sensitive Rodians, some of whom trained as Jedi. Let’s explore ALL of the Rodian Jedi and Force sensitive individuals in Star Wars…and one Rodian Sith Lord.

1. Jedi Master Toluz Cheq

First Appearance comic book Star Wars The Clone Wars #10: Hero of the Confederacy, Part 1 (2009)

Rodian male Jedi Master Toluz Cheq serves the Jedi Order and the Republic during the Clone Wars in Star Wars Legends. There is no known data on the design or blade color of his lightsaber. At some point he went through flight training with Anakin Skywalker. Cheq, who was considered one the Jedi Order’s best pilots, and his Padawan commanded a fleet of Venator-class Star Destroyers during the Clone Wars.

The Jedi Master was overcome by a new model of Confederate Vulture Droid in 22 BBY. As the Vulture Droids outmatched and shot down his Jedi Starfighter, Cheq transmitted his final report to the Jedi Temple, conveying the information he gathered about the new model. Cheq perished in battle.

In real life, the Jedi Master’s name sounds similar to the famous French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The character’s first and only appearance is in the comic book The Clone Wars 10: Hero of the Confederacy, Part 1 (2009).

2. Rogue Jedi Deelguh

First Appearance Star Wars Force and Destiny Nexus of Power from Fantasy Flight Games (2016)

Deelguh serves the Jedi Order during the early years of the Galactic Republic in Star Wars Canon. As a Padawan Deelguh trains alongside Corellian human male Taradon.

Deelguh eventually goes rogue, becomes an assassin, and organizes a group to raid kyber crystals. When raiding the kyber crystal rich planet Illum, Jedi Knight Taradon and his forces attempt to stop Deelguh and his co-conspirators. When Taradon realizes Deelguh outmatches him, the Jedi Knight crashes his starfighter in Deelguh’s ship, killing them both. Rogue Jedi Deelguh first appears in Star Wars Canon in Nexus of Power (2016), a sourcebook for the Fantasy Flight Games’ Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game.

3. Jedi Knight Jovan Drark

First Appearance Star Wars New Jedi Order Book 6: Balance Point (2000)

A member of the New Jedi Order in Star Wars Legends, Rodian male Jedi Knight Jovan Drark exudes a withdrawn personality and teams up with Tenel Ka Djo on a mission during the Yuuzhan Vong War to watch over the Bilbringi system in the Inner Rim. His lightsaber design and blade color are unknown.

Drark later joined the Myrkr strike team, a group of young Jedi lead by Anakin Solo in 27 ABY. The team is tasked with infiltrating a Yuuzhan Vong ship in order to destroy its voxen queen. Armed with a high-powered longblaster, Drark serves as the the team’s sniper. He dies during the mission due to wounds incurred from a combination of flitnats (bloodsucking insects) and a chest wound from battle. Jovan Drark is first mention in the novel Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Balance Point (2000).

4. Force Sensitive Infant Wee Dunn

First Appearance animated series Star Wars The Clone Wars “Children of the Force” season 2, episode 3 (2009)

Wee Dunn is a Force sensitive infant male Rodian during the Clone Wars in Star Wars Canon. He lives on Rodia with his mother Mahtee Dunn. When bounty hunter Cad Bane steals a Jedi Holocron containing a list of Force sensitive individuals from the Jedi Temple, Darth Sidious creates a plot. In 21 BBY, Sidious pays Bane to kidnap Wee Dunn and three other young Force sensitive individuals and take them to the planet Mustafar. Sidious wished to use slave conditioning on the children to create an army of dark side warriors. Anakin Skywalker and his padawan Ahsoka Tano rescued the four children from Mustafar before the slave conditioning had been completed. The infant’s fate following his rescue from kidnapping is known.

5. Jedi Initiate Ganodi

First Appearance Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series in Season 6, Episode 5 “The Gathering”.

Ganodi is a female Rodian Jedi initiate who is at the top of her class. She serves the Jedi Order and the Republic during the Clone Wars era. Ganodi, along with several other Jedi initiates, is selected to journey to the planet Illum to participate in The Gathering. An ancient ritual, The Gathering is rite of passage where Jedi initiates seek a kyber crystal for the construction of their own personal lightsaber.

While searching the caves for her crystal, she falls in an area abundant in crystals. Initially overwhelmed by the quantity of crystals, one crystal eventually calls to her. She realizes he other crystals are simply an illusion and manifestation of her own fears.

Ganodi and the other initiates begin constructing their lightsabers aboard the vessel the Crucible. Before they can finish, the pirate Hondo Ohnaka attacks the initiates due to high black market value of their kyber crystals. The initiates and Ahsoka Tano fend off the attack, but Tano is kidnapped. Almost all of the initiates finish constructing their lightsabers aboard the vessel Crucible and rescue Tano.

6. Jedi Padawan Greer

First Appearance non-canon kids novel Jedi Academy (2013)

Greer is a male Rodian Jedi Padawan. He learns the ways of the Force at the Jedi Temple on Courscant in 196 BBY. A cohort of Padawan Roan Novachez, the two share a sometimes uneasy relationship. He competes in the Lightsaber Fencing Tournament at the Jedi Academy.

7. Jedi Master Huulik

First Appearance Star Wars: Heir to the Jedi (2015)

Huulik is a Clone Wars era male Rodian Jedi Knight. He serves the Jedi Order and the Republic and becomes a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic. He flies alongside Anakin Skywalker during several missions. During one mission Skywalker saves his life. Following the enactment of Order 66, clone troopers kill Huulik. Years later, Luke Skywalker and Huulik’s niece Taneetch Soonta visit Huulik’s masoleum on the planet Rodia. Soonta gives Luke Skywalker Huulik’s lightsaber.

The Huulik lightsaber is designed to fit the long, dexterous fingers of a Rodian and is uncomfortable in the human hand. The hilt features a matte-black finish. The Jedi lightsaber, which is equipped with multiple kyber crystals, emits an amethyst blade (an image of Huulik shows a blade with a teal appearance).

8. Jedi Master Lodaka

First Appearance Star Wars Force and Destiny Nexus of Power from Fantasy Flight Games (2016)

Lodaka is a female Rodian Jedi Master. She is skilled in Form III of lightsaber combat and also develops a facination for and expertise in the material properties of lightsaber crystals.

Lodaka develops the ability to use the Force to manipulate crystals on a molecular level. She constructs a lightsaber with blade resistance to cortosis, which could shut down a lightsaber blade. The lightsaber is considered one of the finest every created. After her death, Jedi Master Lodaka laid to rest in the Jedi Temple on Lothal in the Outer Rim Territories. Her lightsaber is placed in the temple as well.

9. Force Adept Otee Nom

First Appearance Blown Away (2001) one-time interactive in the Living Force campaign

Otee Nom is a female Rodian Force Adept in 31 BBY in Star Wars Legends. She lives in the Cularin system in the Expansion Region and helps train additional Force adepts. Although she is analytical and practical by nature, Nom also prefers to minimize “hurt feelings” when she speaks her mind.

Otee Nom’s first an only appearance is in Blow Away (2001) a one-time interactive that is associated with the Clouds of Genarius Trilogy for the Wizards of the Coast RPGA Living Force campaign in Star Wars Legends. The interactive ran only one time at the Gen Con Game Fair 2001. No images are available of the character or her lightsaber.

10. Jedi Knight Kelbis Nu

First Appearance Star Wars New Jedi Order 8: Edge of Victory II: Rebirth (2001)

Kelbis Nu is a Force sensitive turned Jedi Knight Rodian male in the New Jedi Order in Star Wars Legends. He grows up in the Outer Rim Territories on the planet Susevfi. In his early life he is part of the Jensaari, an order of Force users that blends Jedi and Sith teachings together. His lightsaber design and blade color are unknown.

Later, Kelbis Nu joins the New Jedi Order and fights in the Yuuzhan Vong War. During a recon mission, Nu discovers the undercover Yuuzhan Vong agent Nom Anor. A member of the Yuuzhan Vong affiliated group the Peace Brigade shoot and kills the Jedi Knight. In his dying breath he is able to communicate the Vuuzhan Vong’s next target to other Jedi: the Inner Rim planet Yag’Dhul.

Kelbis Nu first appears in Star Wars Canon in Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Edge of Victory II: Rebirth (2001). Through retcon, the character first appears in the novel I, Jedi (1998).

11. Force Sensitive Paemos

First Appearance game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided

Paemos is a Force Sensitive male Rodian and ranged weapons expert in Star Wars Legends. During the Galactic Civil War, he is situated in the village Aurilia on the planet Dathomir. He exhibits a friendly disposition and is eventually elected mayor of the township.

Paemos first appears in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies prior to its closure in 2011. He is a non-player character.

12. Jedi Master Bolla Ropal

First Appearance Star Wars The Clone Wars novelization

Originally from the planet Rodia, Bolla Ropal learns the ways of the Force and hold allegiance to the Jedi Order. He constructs and wields a green bladed lightsaber. Ropal ascends to the rank of Jedi Master and takes on Tyzen Xebec as an apprentice. Prior to the Clone Wars, Ropal is charged with preserving and protecting the sensitive information within the Kyber memory crystal. The crystal contains the identity of all known Force-sensitive younglings in the entire galaxy.

During the Clone Wars, Ropal accepts a mission to the planet Devaron. Bounty hunter Cad Bane’s forces, under the command of Darth Sidious, take Ropal and his forces by surprise. After a short battle, Cad Bane captures the Jedi Master. Ropal dies during Bane’s interrogation, refusing to help Cad Bane open a Jedi holocron.

13. Jedi Knight Rulo

First Appearance “The Kaluthin Are Always Greener” adventure in The Living Force Campaign in Star Wars Roleplaying Game

Rulo is a Rodian male Jedi Knight in Star Wars Legends. He serves the Jedi Order and Republic during the Rise of the Empire era. His lightsaber design and blade color are unknown.

During the years leading up the rise of the Galactic Empire, Rulo learns the ways of the Force at a Jedi Academy. He ascends to the rank of Jedi Knight and takes on the human male Lo Pelkar as his Padawan. In 31 BBY, Rulo and Pelkar accept a mission to the planet Almas. They investigate the unnatural mass-death of the oxygen-producing kaluthin growth. The pair learn that the Dark Jedi Kosa-Yin Hadu and Gar Granga are responsible for the mass-death. Rulo and Pelkar defeat the enemy and resolve the crisis.

14. Jedi Master Theenu

First Appearance game Star Wars The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne (2018)

Theenu is an Old Republic era Rodian female Jedi Master. She serves the Jedi Order and the Republic during the Galactic War and conflict with the Eternal Empire. As the Jedi suffer heavy casualties during the conflicts, Jedi Master Gnost-Dural recruits her and other Jedi survivors to go into hiding on the planet Ossus. In 3628 BBY, the reconsituated Sith Empire attacks the planet. Although Theenu is injured during an assault on the Great Jedi Library, she ultimately survives.

15. Jedi Knight Toile Senn

First Appearance Star Wars Legacy of the Force 1: Betrayal (2006)

Toile Senn is a male Rodian Jedi Knight who serves the New Jedi Order after the devastating Yuuzhan Vong War in Star Wars Legends. In 40 ABY, the Galactic Alliance, which was formed from the New Republic following the war, discovers the planet Corellia is secretly constructing an assault fleet and plotting to revive the ancient space station Centerpoint Station.

Senn, a skilled pilot, serves in Luke Skywalker’s Hardpoint Squadron during Operation Roundabout. The Galactic Alliance launches Operation Roundabout, an attempt to bring Corellia in line with the Alliance through a show of firepower. During the mission, Hardpoint Squadron is tasked with extracting Jedi from planet’s surface. Corellian starfighters along with ground-based anti-starfighter fire engage Senn and Hardpoint Squadron in battle. Senn’s snubfighter sustains multiple indirect blows in, forcing the Jedi Knight to eject. A short while later the nearby Luke Skywalker senses Senn’s death in an explosion. Although the mission to extract the Jedi proves successful, the overall hard line operation backfires, spurring the Second Galactic Civil War.

16. Rakehells Squadron Pilot and Jedi Knight Twool

First Appearance novel Star Wars The Dark Nest I: The Joiner King (2005)

Five years after the end of the Yuuzhan Vong War, young Rodian Twool serves as a Jedi Apprentice in the New Jedi Order in Star Wars Legends. By the time of the Second Galactic Civil War in 40 BBY, Twool has ascended to the rank of Jedi Knight and become a pilot. During the war, Twool is part of Wedge Antilles’ Rakehells Squadron. The Jedi dies during a battle between Rakehells Squadron and Rogue Squadron.

17. Dree Vandap

First Appearance Star Wars Gamer Magazine 5 “Darkness Shared” short story (July 2001)

Dree Vandap is an Old Republic era Rodian female Jedi Apprentice. She serves the Jedi Order and the Republic during the New Sith Wars. Jedi Knight Crian Maru takes Vandap as an apprentice.

Vandap and Maru undertake a mission to track down the notorious Sith Lord Kaox Krul of the Brotherhood of Darkness. Krul blasts their ship and they return fire. Both damaged ships crash land on the planet Harpori. Krul pursues the Jedi for two days. He engages Maru in a lightsaber duel and Vandap joins the battle. Krul uses the Force to throw Maru into the nearby lake and he leaps behind Vandap. Before she can react, he stabs her in the back, killing her. She becomes one with the Force.

18. Jedi Padawan Wamtra

First Appearance “Only the Force” stand-alone adventure (2004)

Wamtra is a Clone Wars era male Rodian Jedi Padawan who serves the Jedi Order and the Republic. He trains at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Jedi Master Nemen Ull takes on Wamtra as an apprentice. During the Clone Wars Wamtra holds the rank of Commander in the Grand Army of the Republic.

Wamtra and Ull go on a mission to the planet Argul and fight in the Battle of Argul. During the battle, the pair hold off the Separatist Droid Army and search for a missing child. During the search a Armored Assault Tanks (AAT) payload kills Ull. Wamtra feels his master’s death through the Force. Although Wamtra survives and the Republic secures a victory in battle, the shaken Padawan considers leaving the Jedi Order and is haunted by his master’s death.

Additional Unidentified Rodian Jedi

In addition to all of these named Jedi, there are quite a few unnamed Rodian Jedi, especially from the Clone Wars era.

Hasbro released an unnamed Rodian Jedi as part of Star Wars Clone Wars Jedi Army multipack of action figures (2003). Hasbro released a second Rodian Jedi figure in the Target Exclusive Star Wars The Legacy Collection Rodian Jedi and Battle Droid (2010).

Rodian Sith

First Appearance comic book Star Wars Legacy #2 (2006)

Only one Rodian Sith Lord is known to exist. The Rodian Sith, who is unnamed, is a member of Darth Krayt’s One Sith during the Legacy era. The individual wears a skull-like mask. In 137 ABY, the Rodian Sith ambushes four Jedi on the planet Daluuj. One the ambushed Jedi, male Rutian Twi’lek Jedi Master Shado Vao, kills the Rodian Sith during the skirmish.
