The elder Kim attempts to persuade the younger Kim to leave the Jedi Order and continue the family legacy in politics. The Jedi declines, to the disappointment of his father.

When father and son reunite on Coruscant several years later, an assassin on a speeder bike attacks the pair from behind, killing Vidar Kim. Although Ronhar Kim captures the assailant, the individual kills herself before the Jedi can interrogate her. A young man named Palpatine is elected to the Senate and Vidar Kim’s place. Ronhar Kim ascends to the rank of Jedi Master before 32 BBY. During a visit with the newly elected Chancellor Palpatine, Kim ignites his lightsaber and saves Palpatine from an assassination attempt from a pair of Senate Guards. Clone Wars and Death

During the Clone Wars, Kim accepts a commission as a Jedi General. By this time, the Jedi Council believes the mysterious Sith Lord is hidden in the government of the Republic. Tap-Nar-Pal suggests testing the members of the senate to determine their midiclorian count. When Kim presents the idea to Palpatine, the Chancellor asks the two Jedi to postpone presenting the idea to the Jedi Council to a later time.

Meanwhile, Ronhar Kim and Tap-Nar-Pal undertake a routine mission to Merson to fight pirates. Unbeknownst to the two Jedi, Palpatine (i.e. Darth Sidious) commands Count Dooku to ensure no one survives the battle. Droid forces ambush and overwhelm the two Jedi and Republic forces. Tap-Nar-Pal and Kim both die in the battle.

In the aftermath of the battle, Chancellor Palpatine uses the death of the two Jedi to increase the war effort and to bolster and consolidate his power as chancellor.
