Tahl Lightsaber in Star Wars Legends

Tahl studies the ways of the Force at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. She develops a close friendship with fellow Jedi initiate Qui-Gon Jinn. She ascends to the rank of Jedi Knight and constructs a blue-bladed lightsaber. She trains as a Jedi Consular specializing as a researcher and Lore Keeper.

After Tahl rises to the rank of Jedi Master, the Jedi Council encourages each of them to take on a Padawan learner. For a while she refuses to take on an apprentice. In 53 BBY she serves as a a steward of the orphaned Padawan Orykan Tamarik.

In 44 BBY, Tahl undertakes a mission as a peacekeeper to the Outer Rim planet Melida/Daan. On the planet, she finds Melida and the Daan people fighting and killing each other. Caught up in the chaos, she sustains injuries causing her to permanently lose her sight. She is also scarred from her left eyebrow to her chin. Melidans take her into custody.

Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi arrive and rescue her from capture. Back on Coruscant, Tahl works at the Jedi Temple, helping Jedi find useful information before they depart on a mission. Tahl takes on the Mon Calamari Jedi Initiate Bant Eerin as her first and only Padawan, but often leaves her Padawan behind on short missions. The decision upsets the Jedi Council and Qui-Gon Jinn alike.

In 41 BBY, she receives a call for help from the twins Eritha and Alani of the planet New Apsolon. She journey’s alone, despite the objections of Qui-Gon Jinn. When several weeks pass and she doesn’t report back to the Jedi Council, Jinn and Kenobi go to find her. They find her and help her complete her undercover mission. Jinn admits he has feelings for her and the two Jedi pledge their lives to each other. A short time later, Chief Security Controller Balog discovers Tahl’s undercover status and captures her.

Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi chase after Balag and attempt to rescue Tahl. Although the two Jedi find her alive, she succumbs to injuries she sustained during capture. She dies. In the aftermath, Jinn comes close to turning the dark side, but Tahl’s voice warns him not to. Instead of killing Balog, Jinn turns the Chief Security Controller over to Eritha and Alani and the authorities.
