Bruu Jun-Fan Lightsaber in Star Wars Legends

Bruu Jun-Fan studies the ways of the Force under the guidance of the Jedi Order. He ascends to the rank of Jedi Master at a very young age. Jun-Fan takes on Tatsu as his Padawan. Fast and agile, Jun-Fan is extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat. He is also a master of psychometry, a Force power allowing the user to touch an object and glean information about the sights, sounds, and feelings that the wielder of the object experienced.
In 20 BBY, Jedi Master and Jedi Council member Plo Koon selects Bruu Jun-Fan for a task force to track down and capture Darth Maul and his brother Savage Opress. Several additional Jedi and a team of clone troopers serve on the mission as well. The task force tracks the brothers to the Scourge gang’s base on the ice-planet Yellowblade’s Landing.
Darth Maul releases wampas, which preoccupy the clone troopers. Maul engages in a lightsaber duel with Bruu Jun-Fan and Jedi Master Ko Solok. During the skirmish, Darth Maul throws his red-bladed lightsaber at Bruu Jun-Fan. After Jun-Fan dodges the weapon, the lightsaber impales and kills Solok. Jun-Fan fights Maul using hand-to-hand combat and starts choking Maul. Maul kicks Jun-Fan in the stomach with his cybernetic leg. Plo Koon finds Jun-Fan. Jun-Fan dies in Plo Koon’s arms. Maul and Opress escape.

The Bruu Jun-Fan lightsaber first appears in the graphic novella Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Sith Hunters (2012). Bruu Jun-Fan’s appearance, clothing and skills in unarmed combat appear to be inspired by Bruce Lee. Lee’s Cantonese birth name is Lee Jun-fan.
