Lord Covax Lightsaber in Star Wars Canon

The Lord Covax lightsaber features a flat, fan-shaped crossguard with two prongs spiraling upward. The lightsaber’s exposed, external blue kyber crystal is suspended above the emitter section.

Lord and Lady Covax reside on the Mustafar, a lush and thriving planet. One day, the planet comes under attack. Lord Covax falls in battle while wielding his lightsaber. A grief stricken Lady Covax steals Bright Star, a sacred Mustafarian artifact, in order to bring her husband back from the dead. She inadvertently unleashes a curse that traps Lord Covax between the real world and the next and transforms the beautiful Mustafar into a chaotic wasteland of lava. Caught between two worlds, Lord Covax develops the ability to suspend time and to teleport.

Many years later during the reign of the Empire, Darth Vader acquires the Bright Star and wishes to use the artifact to bring back his deceased wife Padme Amidala from the dead. Only someone from the Covax bloodline could implement the Bright Star, however.

Darth Vader captures a Force-sensitve smuggler from the Covax bloodline. The individual tries to return the crystal back to the Mustafarians, but Vader stops them. As Darth Vader begins activating the Bright Star, the smuggler returns and duels Darth Vader with the Lord Covax lightsaber. The smuggler thrusts the lightsaber into the Bright Star. The destruction of the crystal sets off a chain of events that free Lord Covax from his curse and restores Mustafar to previous beautiful form.
